What's playing in the Media Room - October 6th 2010

It was a great night on the television in our media room last night, caught up on a couple Monday shows and watched Glee and No Ordinary Family from Tuesday. Caught up on Castle and while I was only half watching it, I was typing up the daily news post at the time. I enjoyed what I did see, they seemed to mix up the usual Castle pattern for something a bit different for them. I can't recall now but wasn't there something on-going that didn't get resolved in the episode. Or was that just me? Then we watched Mondays epsiode of The Event. Finally! The show sucked me in and made me interested in it once again, it was an intense episode where stuff actually happened. I'm calling it right now, the Presidental aid is an alien! Then on to the Tuesday night staple that is Glee. Loved this weeks episode so much more then the gimmick that was Britney last week. Again, things happened and plots moved forward. I can't stand it if all the kids do is performances and not much else because after the first or second performance I get bored with the show. Then we watched No Ordinary Family, we watched the pilot about a month ago and I didn't enjoy it. But I wanted to see if it got better in the second episode and too me it didn't, until the last five minutes. That's not really a fair statement, I love reading comic books and when you make a tv show about people and superheroes that's what I want the focus to be on; the powers. It's a family show who's learning to deal with these newly acquired powers and late in the episode they revealed a bit of a conspiracy. The conspiracy interests me, but nothing else about the show does.

Ratings watch from last night:

Everything was down except for NCIS and Parenthood last night, it would appear that some NCIS viewers jumped over to Glee to watch Britney last week as Glee dropped just over 2 million viewers from last week. Yikes. Dancing with the Stars had it's lowest results show of the season dropping to 16.41 million, I guess most people they can find out who got the boot off the internet the next day instead of wasting a spot on their pvr for this one. Running Wilde dropped even further, LOVE IT! I so want this show to get the boot as it's awful, it just got above 4 million viewers. Detroit 187 which people are putting on death watch already still is over 8 million so I don't understand people wondering when it'll get canceled. It's a pretty good show and it came in second in its time-slot. I don't get it. Parenthood recovered a bit last night climbing just over 5 mllion from it's 4.85 the night before.

Let's take a lookie look at tonight's lineup.

The Middle - 8:00 - ABC - Season 2 Episode 3

Episode Title: The Diaper Incident

While buying diapers for Sue, who is baby-sitting, Frankie gets humiliated when the sales clerk assumes she's shopping for adult diapers. At home, Frankie pressures Mike into getting a physical because she believes men fall apart faster than women; however, when Mike receives a clean bill of health from the doctor, Frankie proceeds to throw her back out and hide it from Mike. Meanwhile, Sue falls in love with Axl's friend Sean, who pays no attention to her and Brick begins to test some of the "urban legends" that parents tell their kids.

Survivor: Nicaragua - 8:00 - CBS - Season 21 Episode 4

Episode Title: Pulling the Trigger

NaOnka and Kelly B. exchange a war of words over the hunt for the hidden immunity idol, and a secret is revealed that solidifies a powerful alliance. At tribal council, another castaway is voted out of the game.

All I can say here is: NaOnka is a school teacher, I've found her actions the last couple of weeks and from what I've heard about the preview to be discusting.

Undercovers - 8:00 - NBC - Season 1 Episode 3

Episode Title: Devices

An informant claims to have information about a device that would compromise the identities of all CIA agents; Steven and Samantha struggle to find the balance between being partners and a married couple while in the field.

This show has been one of my biggest disappointments so far in the tv season. Didn't watch last weeks but I've got it pvr'd, still not sure if I'm going to watch. I'm thinking that this is going to be on the ratings watch list soon.

Hell's Kitchen - 8:00 Two Hours - Fox - Season 8 Episode 5

Episode Title: HK8: Day Five

Challenges facing the 11 remaining chefs include devising menus for a retro-themed high-school prom (with the losing team having to set up for the prom) and preparing entrée salads (the winner is to be featured in Bon Appetit magazine). Then, undercooking and overcooking bedevil dinner service. This also is the episode where Sabrina turns against her team, and "Principal Ramsay" has enough of it.

America's Next Top Model - 8:00 - The CW - Season 15 Episode 5

Episode Title: Karolina Kurkova

The models walk a conveyor-belt runway in a downtown Los Angeles tunnel; model Karolina Kurkova discusses healthful eating with the contestants; the women pose with wrestlers in the photo shoot; another elimination.

Season 15? really?

Better With You - 8:30 - ABC - Season 1 Episode 3

Episode Title: Better With Ben

Everyone in the family hates the Christmas photo card that Joel obsesses over every year. But when Ben is left out of the card, he is really hurt when Joel invites Casey instead, so he and Maddie devise a revenge Christmas card. Meanwhile, Mia and Casey realize it is very hard for them to say "no", so they ask Maddie and Ben to do the hard work with their future baby.

In viewing the episode guide all the episode titles are, "Better With" something...how clever. Yes it's true, I don't like this show.

Modern Family - 9:00 - ABC - Season 2 Episode 3

Episode Title: Earthquake

After an earthquake hits the town, Claire gets stuck with the plumber in the bathroom. Meanwhile, when going out with Jay, Manny experiences an existential crisis. Also, Mitchell and Cameron use the quake to get out of a party that is being thrown by their friend (Nathan Lane).

Last weeks episode was much better then the premiere. Just by reading the episode description this weeks looks like it's going to be hilarious. Love when Jay and Manny hang out.

Criminal Minds - 9:00 - CBS - Season 6 Episode 3

Episode Title: Remembrance of Things Past

When several women in Virginia are found murdered in a similar manner, SSA David Rossi reopens an unsolved cold case in Herndon that has haunted him for a quarter of a century because he believes the original killer, who is suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, might have returned.

Law & Order: SVU - 9:00 - NBC - Season 12 Episode 4

Episode Title: Merchandise

Detectives Benson and Stabler investigate the death of a teenaged girl involved in a hit-and-run accident after Dr. Warner rules her death was a homicide based on signs of malnutrition and a recent delivery. When the evidence leads them to a human trafficking operation, however, they contact an old colleague whose promotion has given her some influence. Elsewhere, Captain Cragen becomes increasingly frustrated with the deteriorating condition at his precinct.

I'm starting to wonder if this is the Law and Order to set the primetime drama record. Out of all of them this is the one that gets the most buzz and most acclaim.

Hellcats - 9:00 - The CW - Season 1 Episode 5

Episode Title: The Prisoner's Song

Savannah jeopardizes her position as captain when she upsets Alice. With Alice strongly opposed, Savannah convinces the team to let Dan direct their bid video and must deal with the consequences when things don't go as planned. Marti investigates more into her law professor Julian's case, while Red's confrontation with Derrick causes a fight.

This has totally replaced Melrose Place as my guilty pleasure watch of the week.

Cougar Town - 9:30 - ABC - Season 2 Episode 3

Episode Title: Makin' Some Noise

Jules starts adjusting to living by herself, and Grayson becomes the object of her constant attention. Meanwhile, Travis turns to Bobby for advise on how to redefine his life at college, while Ellie tries not to be friends with her new nanny.

The Whole Truth - 10:00 - ABC - Season 1 Episode 3

Episode Title: Judicial Discretion

Jimmy is hired by popular judge Ruben Wright (Judd Hirsch) to defend him against murder charges, though Kathryn is torn by the prospect of prosecuting Wright, her former mentor.

Sadly this is topping most people's next to be canceled list.

The Defenders - 10:00 - CBS - Season 1 Episode 3

Episode Title: Nevada vs. Carter

While Nick defends a stripper who is charged with solicitation, Pete is forced to take a case he doesn't want to when he loses a hand of poker.

Law & Order: Los Angeles - 10:00 - NBC - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: Echo Park

The murder of a cult member who had been convicted of murder herself sends Detectives Winters and Jaruszalski on a torturous investigation involving the woman's fellow cult members. Yet somehow, this leads them to one of the original investigating detectives-Winter's wife, Lori. This turn of events puts DDAs Dekker and Stanton in an awkward position as they probe the old case, and the new, for the truth.

Wasn't blown away with the premiere last week, it's got a great cast and for that. I'll give it one more week.

Terriers - 10:00 - FX Network - Season 1 Episode 5

Episode Title: Manifest Destiny

The Lindus conspiracy widens around Hank and Britt, who must clean it up in 24 hours or else Mark will no longer be able to protect them. But in any case, he can't protect them from Lindus' business associates.

I really enjoyed the last episode, I'm glad there is an on-going plot in the background of the silliness that is their weekly case. Seems to get a bit better every week.

Tonight would have been busy, but we've dropped The Whole Truth as we don't want to get attached to it just to have it ripped from our hands. So we'll be viewing: Survivor, Modern Family, Criminal Minds, Cougar Town, Hellcats, The Defenders and Law and Order:LA

Enjoy your viewing.
