Daily News - October 5th 2010

Potential shows for next year news:

Being on a megahit has given Sofia Vergara the power to start bringing
other projects to ABC. The Modern Family star is going to be producing
a new ABC comedy, it's the American adaption of a popular spanish
series. It's loosely translated to "I hate This Place" and is set in
an apartment building. Kind of like Modern Family it follows a
multi-generational family who manages an apartment building and it's
interesting tenants.

NBC has ordered a new comedy from the Happy Madison camp. "Beverly
Hills Pediatrics" will follow the characters in a doctor's office.

Fox has ordered a legal drama called "Splitting Adams" The main
character will be leading two lives, in one she's a successful lawyer
and in the other, she's actually a person on trial. From super producer
Brian Grazer.

HBO has begun development on a comedy series which Kevin Bacon. Bacon is set to produce and possibly star in the Country Club set comedy which is based on the book Member-Guest. I didn't know Kevin Bacon did comedies? Seems kind of strange to me.

Syfy has renewed it's megahit Warehouse 13 for a third season, not sure
if anyone who visits here watches it, but there ya go.

I just passed an article that was commenting on how none of the new
shows are getting great ratings and it got me thinking. The other day
Oprah was on in the background while I was preparing some dinner and Linda
Gray from Dynasty was on and she said that in it's hey-day that Dynasty
used to pull in 40 million viewers a week! 40 MILLION! That's almost 15
percent of the country was watching Dynasty. These days it's a megahit
if it cracks 20 million. I guess we've got so many more options besides
tv and so many other ways of watching. But still, that's nuts.

Discovery Channel is reporting that they will be continuing with The
Deadliest Catch, but it'll just be with the one boat. The Cornelia
Maria with Josh and Jake Harris, the sons of Captain Phil Harris who
passed earlier in the year.

There is a great article over at Hollywoodreporter.com that talks about
how CBS did some moving of some of their biggest hits in the off season
and it appears to be paying off. Big Bang got moved from Monday to
Thursday to fit in Mike and Molly. Then moved Survivor to Wednesday.
The CSI's where shuffled around to make some room for rookie drama's The
Defenders and Hawaii Five-0. CBS as a whole is up seven percent ratings
wise.

Several sites were reporting that Justin Bieber and MTV have come to an
agreement for the Biebs to host a new version of Punk'D. The series was
created and will be produced by former punk'd host Ashton Kutcher.

The Academy as in the Academy Awards is looking at moving the award show
back to the end of January. The upcoming show is scheduled for Feb
27th.

Hip Hop Superstar Kanye West announced the name of his upcoming album
via Twitter this morning. West's 5th album will be titled: My
Beautiful Drak Twisted Fantasy. The album is set to be released
November 22nd.

Zach Morris will be stopping by an upcoming episode of Weeds and here's
the first look via thetvaddict.com

It's October so let's share some news about upcoming Halloween special
episodes:

Parenthood: Craig T. Nelson once again goes overboard with Halloween and
is upset when Haddie, Amber and Drew refuse to help. Adam and Kristina
are growing concerned about Max's new plans for the holiday. Sarah's
relationship with Gordon gets complicated after she confronts him about
their kiss. Elsewhere, Julia struggles with her belief in women's rights
when Sydney chooses a costume that she doesn't approve.

Community: Greendale students ingest a bio-hazard substance at the
school Halloween Party causing them to exhibit flu-like symptoms and
they soon begin turning into zombies. It is up to the rest of the gang
to save themselves and the school when Dean Pelton locks them in with
the zombie-infected student body.

Chuck: Excited about Halloween, Todd tries to get the office in the
holiday spirit, but his co-workers have no idea what Halloween is all
about. After a series of Halloween pranks and an attempt to explain why
people dress up. Todd decides to throw a costume party. Taking advantage
of the social setting, Todd tries to get closer to Asha, but the plan
backfires when Tonya makes a pass at Todd.

Chuck: When Chuck, Sarah, Casey and Morgan are tasked to stop Dr.
Stanley Wheelright from releasing a nightmare-inducing toxin, they're
also lead to question the allegiances of Chuck's mom. Meanwhile, Jeff
and Lester use their unique sensibilities to celebrate Halloween at the
Buy More, and Ellie and Awesome get a visit from Dr. Honey Woodcomb.

The Office: When Darryl takes an idea to corporate over his head,
Michael freaks out. Everyone in the office is in a competitive mood as
the Halloween costume contest gets underway. Meanwhile, Pam tries to get
the truth out of Danny about their dating history.

A couple weeks back I shared some CMA Performers, today ABC announced a
few more names: Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Reba, George Strait,
Sugarland, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. These some like much
bigger names then I previously had shared.

Several sites are reporting that Sony has made the decision with Emma Stone, she's got a role. Just not the role that many people thought she'd be getting. They've decided to cast Stone in the role of Gwen Stacy. Peter Parkers first love. Interestingly Emma Stone is actually a natural blonde, not the red head we normally see her as. That's the second blonde that I've read that dyes their hair red. The first was Deborah Ann Woll who plays Jessica on True Blood. Jessica said that there already too many blondes in Hollywood, she thought dying her hair would make her stand out more.

Lisa Rinna had lip reduction surgery today after thinking her overly botoxed lips were getting too large. Duh. I'm guessing lip reduction surgery is just a fancy way of saying, they sucked some of the botox back out.

It's being reported that "The Situation" is leaving New Jersey and heading to Los Angeles to further his career. Great, that's what we all need, once he leaves I have to think it won't be long before these talentless wonders will copy this great idea and head there as well. They're celebrities who have a lot to offer Hollywood.

I think it was last week when I passed on the story that Mel Gibson's baby mama and ex-girlfriend was going on the Oprah Show to tell her side of the story. The interview is going to be taped later this week and one of the conditions of the interview is that part of the interview must be spent on launching her music career.

NBC is looking to re-work the schedule as a couple of shows are underperforming. Outlaw which appears is on the brink of cancelation could be cut for School Pride and Dateline could be stretched to a two hour show instead of one. The Apprentice might get moved to Wednesdays at 9:00, Law and Order: LA might get shifted to Apprentice's old spot at Thursday's at 10:00. Then Law and Order:SVU might get moved to Wednesdays at 10.

Alan Alda had a busy day today, he signed on for two films. He'll have a role in Judd Apatow's Wanderlust with Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd. Then he signed up for Brett Ratner's Tower Heist.

Shia LaBeouf is promising that Transformers 3 won't suck, saying it's the best of the three they've made and it has the best script yet. Well, I'm glad that's settled then, if the actor in the movie says it'll be good, then it's gotta be good. It's not like he's going to lie just so we line up and spend our 12 dollars to see it. Oh, wait a minute, an actor trying to promote his own movie just might do that.

And to wrap up todays post, I'm posting a couple trailers.

First we've got another trailer for due date. Then we've got the first look at the star studded Tempest with Helen Mirren, Russell Brand, Alfred Molina, David Stratham, Felicty Jones, Chris Cooper and Alan Cumming just to name a few.
