So, it's over and my tv is still intact, I've thought for months that my tv wouldn't make it 5 minutes after the finale finished. I enjoyed it and for some reason I don't mind that my list of questions weren't answered. The show is about our Losties and it's always been about them.
I've watched the finale twice and I've written some notes about viewing.
When "Bobbie" pulled the coffin out of the back of the Oceanic truck we wondered how the hell is he getting that out of the truck by himself. Watching it a second time, I almost laughed because it seemed very easy for Bobbie and Desmond to lift the coffin on to the cart. Well turns out the coffin was about 175 pounds lighter than we thought it was going to be.
Chuckled that Charlie fate written on the tape again in this "sideways" timeline.
Hugo, "This would be so sweet if we weren't all about to die" Small hint about what is coming?
There was a lot of Star Wars type music last night, more than normal.
I wondered how Rose and Bernard knew Locke wasn't Locke and that Desmond didn't have to go with him. They seemed to know that he was evil. But I didn't know how they knew that. They wouldn't have known that Locke was dead. At least I couldn't remember them finding out Locke was dead and that MIB was now Flocke.
Jin, "If everything is alright we can go soon" Another hint. How clever Darlton.
Bit of a headscratcher that Miles and Richard seemed not to know that Frank was a pilot. Shouldn't Miles know this since Miles was brought to the island via Frank?
Desmond, "Maybe I can find a way to bring you there too" Makes more sense now.
Whatever happened, happened. The producers were very sure to show us that the island ISN"T purgatory and the island stuff really happened. That the "sideways" universe is the one that really never happened.
They somewhat revealed why Eloise didn't want Desmond to continue. She had some stakes in what happened to Daniel in the sideways universe. She shot her son in the main timeline and the sideways universe was her place to correct that, she could actually live with him. She was afraid to lose him again. The fact that she knew it wasn't real was one question I would like
to know the answer to. What made her so powerful?
So we finally get to see what's in the well of light. Who were the bodies in the bottom of the well? Mother's original body? Then I also wondered: MIB falls in there and boom smoke comes out and spits out his body. But we see that the light source is a small walk, so I wondered what happened when MIB went down there. Small detail that I'll let go.
I also wonder what would have happened if Locke left the island once the cork is removed? He wasn't Smokie anymore.
The second time through the delivery scene I felt it was familiar and it turns out Kate said all the same lines that she said in the original timeline when she delivered Aaron the first time.
They answered the scar questions 1) The wound on the neck and 2) They explain the scar Jack saw in the mirror that he thought was odd and asked his mom about his appendix.
Of course Hugo went with Jack, when Hugo went with Locke to Otherville when the teams split a few seasons back and things didn't go so well. Hugo told Jack he would always be on his team.
Was I alone in thinking that Sawyer and kate should have taken a much bigger leap when they dove into the water?
Chuckled that Sawyer used the same vending machine just before being enlightened that Jack used when Jacob tagged him.
Many of us predicted that Hurley would become the protector of the island.
But Smokey is now dead, does it really need protecting? If so, who’s protecting it now Hurley is dead?
By the way, that Oceanic water bottle would have been disgusting. Just saying.
Speaking of the water, Jacob seemed to bless the water. Jack didn’t seem to do that and how would he know how to do it? Jacob must have passed all his wisdom on to Jack. Again, a small detail that I'll let go.
Anyone else wondering how Jack got out of the cave? That looked a lot like the same water that Kate fell into when she came back on the Ajira flight.
The light went out and the island started to crumble. What would have happened if Jack didn’t cork it again. Would all of earth crumbled?
“See you in another life brotha” A sentence we’ve been hearing for 6 years finally takes the meaning we’ve all been wondering about. Bravo.
Ben doesn’t go in to the church because he knows what’s going to happen in there. He’s got a great life going in the sideways universe. He’ll have a chance at love and being a family. Something he could never have in the main timeline.
Michael wasn’t there because he was and always will be a whisper trapped on the island.
“Some before you, some long after you” Christian to Jack. That tells me that this group has waiting a long time to be together once again. Somehow they created this sideways universe to make sure that they all met up once again and spend eternity together in heaven.
Nice touch with Jack walking by his father’s shoe right before he’s about to die.
Just like it started was how it ended, with Jack on the ground in the bamboo fields. Like so many openings to Lost, the series really ended the only way it could. With Jack closing his eye.
