What's Playing in the Media Room - September 27th

So, about last night. That was a fun night wasn't it.

Big winner of the night last night was Modern Family with a whopping 14.20 million viewers. Hmmm, that's weird, because on Sunday night just about every person on Twitter wanted this show to burn in hell. Regardless. It wasn't a great start and I can't see myself finishing the season with this one. This is starting to get very, very predictable.

Survivor is also cracking the 10 million viewer mark with 10.15. Interesting fact, the very first season finale back in 2000 drew 51.69 MILLION US Viewers or almost 20 percent of the entire population. Scary stuff.

Also scary and not Media Room related. Since the year 2000, the population in the States has grown almost 20 million. Doesn't that seem rather quick to you? Moving along.

The X-Factor once again struggles, against it's own ego really. But still, 9.44 million. Sadly, Animal Practice which I LOVED only drew 5.18 million viewers.

Did anyone else out there watch The Neighbors? Good lord, worst show I've ever watched, in my life. I couldn't believe just how horrible it was. It got 9.27 MILLION Viewers! It almost beat X-Factor last night. If there are more than 2 million people watching Neighbors next week, I really will be stunned. STUNNED! Horrible. I couldn't stop thinking about just how awful it was all day today.

Thursday night now, one of my favorite nights on television. Geez, I've already got 4 things to watch at 8 and The Vampire Diaries hasn't even started yet. Going to be a busy night for the ol' PVR tonight.

Lots of great choices out there, so plan your night well. It's on nights like this that you really have to use those West Coast Feeds to record everything you can.

Enjoy your night.

Last Resort - 8:00 - ABC/Global - Season 1 Episode 1
Episode Title: Captain
Mysterious orders to fire nuclear weapons at a foreign country are received in the opener of this series following the crew of a U.S. submarine, who seek refuge on an exotic island after being attacked under suspicious circumstances.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I'm on board for this one. The cast looks pretty loaded up for it. The story looks like it will be very, very interesting. Plus, everyone wondered what that island from Lost was doing. Well, here it is. I think I saw a Dharma symbol, did you see the numbers? Study the screen caps. Sorry, I said Lost and went right back there. Read Zap2it's review on it here where they describe it as one of the fall season's best new shows.

Andre Braugher - Homicide: Life on the Street
Scott Speedman - Felicity
Daisy Betts - Persons Unknown
Dichen Lachman - Dollhouse
Autumn Reeser - No Ordinary Family
Jessy Schram - Falling Skies
Robert Patrick - The Unit

The Big Bang Theory - 8:00 - CBS/CTV - Season 6 Episode 1
Episode Title: The Date Night Variable
Season 6 blasts off with Wolowitz in space, and despite that, he still has to intervene in an earthbound argument between his mother and Bernadette. Meanwhile, all Raj's friends are on dates, leaving him to ponder a solution to his loneliness.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Ohhhh baby! The highlight of my night and more than likely, yours as well.

SNL: Political Special - 8:00 - NBC
The "Saturday Night Live" crew lampoons politics and newsmakers.

The X-Factor - 8:00 - FOX - Season 2 Episode 6
Episode Title: Auditions #6
Auditions Continue.

Two and a Half Men - 8:30 - CBS/CTV - Season 10 Episode 1
Episode Title: I Changed My Mind About the Milk
Walden gets a hand from singer Michael Bolton in the Season 10 premiere when he makes big plans to surprise Zoey on her birthday.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Can't we just say now, this will be the last season of Two and a Half Men. CBS must be desperate to line it up behind their biggest comedy. I can picture Lorre and Moonves saying to each other right now, SHEEN WON'T BEAT US!

Up All Night - 8:30 - NBC - Season 2 Episode 2
Episode Title: Home/Office
Reagan adjusts to being a stay-at-home mom and learns about the quirks of the neighborhood. Meanwhile, Chris and Scott work on launching their business, and Ava runs into her former accompanist, whom she may have mistreated on the path to success.

Grey's Anatomy - 9:00 - ABC/CTV - Season 9 Episode 1
Episode Title: Going, Going, Gone
In the ninth-season opener, the doctors try to deal with the fallout from the plane crash, which includes adjusting to changes and moving on from loss.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Season 9? Are people still watching this?

Person of Interest - 9:00 - CBS/CityTV - Season 2 Episode 1
Episode Title: The Contingency
In the Season 2 opener, Carter and Fusco search for Finch while Reese gets a new number from the Machine.

Thoughts from the Media Room: This ended so well and I can't wait to see where they go now.

The Office - 9:00 - NBC - Season 9 Episode 2
Episode Title: Roy's Wedding
Pam's ex-fiancé, Roy, gets married. Jim and Pam attend the wedding, but Roy's big day causes them to explore possible secrets in their own marriage. Meanwhile, Dwight arrogantly protests Nellie's charity initiative, and Clark woos Erin by enticing her with a fake newscaster job.

The Next - 9:30 - The CW - Season 1 Episode 2
Episode Title: Semi-Finals: Round 1
Six local winners and one fan favorite compete in the first round of the semifinals.

Parks and Recreation - 9:30/8:30 - NBC/CityTV - Season 5 Episode 2
Episode Title: Soda Tax
Leslie decides to wage war on obesity in Pawnee in her first mission as city councilor by passing a city-wide soda tax. Meanwhile, Andy tries to get in shape for his police-entrance exam, and Ben struggles to connect with the interns in his office.

Thoughts from the Media Room: How awesome was it to watch this last week?

Scandal - 10:00 - ABC/CityTV - Season 2 Episode 1
Episode Title: White Hat's Off
In the Season 2 opener, Quinn's true identity is disclosed to the team. Meanwhile, Mellie and Cyrus make a live TV interview awkward for Fitz; and a senator fears a personal matter is about to become public knowledge, so he wants Olivia's assistance.

Thoughts from the Media Room: This show has gotten a LOT of buzz and has developed quite a following.

Elementary - 10:00 - CBS/Global - Season 1 Episode 1
Episode Title: Pilot
Sherlock Holmes investigates crimes in modern-day New York City as a consultant to the NYPD. In the opener, Holmes investigates a home invasion that resulted in murder and is assisted by Joan Watson, a former surgeon, who is hired by Holmes' wealthy father to help keep the eccentric detective sober.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I'm very intrigued by this one, I really like Jonny Lee Miller, but not really a fan of Lucy Lui. I like the modern spin they've put on it. But the always emotionless Lui might kill this for me and many others I'm thinking.

Rock Center - 10:00 - NBC
Sexual assault in the military; a new approach to education that puts focus on character development; a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome inspires David Finch to be a better husband; ``Fifty Shades of Grey'' impacts a small Maine town.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Boardwalk Empire last week and the summer's buzziest book Fifty Shades this week. I think we all see that NBC is trying really hard to be hip.

Flashpoint - 10:00 - CTV - Season 5 Episode 2
Episode Title: No Kind of Life
The Team is called to an office building where Dr. Jason Alston has been taken at gunpoint. As the team clears the building, the gunman gets the drop on Sam, forcing him and Jason into a van and revealing a critically injured child. Sam helps Jason stabilize the child’s condition, and discovers a history between Jason and the gunman – just as armed men close in, gunning for Brendan and trapping Sam and Jason in the crossfire.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Yet another reminder that I haven't watched last weeks episode. I know pvr, I know! Stop looking at me that way.

What's Playing in the Media Room - September 26th

After a brutal night of comedy, in my opinion, on Monday night, last night was exactly what I needed. The first episode of The New Girl last night was simply, fantastic and highly entertaining. The second one lost a bit of steam, but it still destroyed anything I saw on Monday night. I loved Ben and Kate, I loved Ben's silliness and his heart that he showed and I look forward to seeing what more that talented cast comes up with.

NCIS of course was the big winner of the night as it usually is on Tuesday nights. But you're all prolly wondering, how did that new show I spent my time watching do? Did I waste my time? Well, Ben and Kate only got about 4.19 million viewers last night and that's really not all that good, especially for a premiere episode. Some how, week 2 but technically week 3 of that horrible, horrible show Go On continues to draw 7.27 million viewers. How is this possible? New Girl only got 5.19 in the 9:00 PM slot. Ruh Row Shaggy. the Mindy Project of which was better than I thought, but still not great drew 4.73 million. Mindy Kaling's talents were clearly not used enough on The Office, even after 30 minutes I still couldn't get used to watching her without her annoying Kelly voice from The Office.

The third biggest draw behind NCIS and NCIS:LA last night was the premiere episode of Vegas. I still haven't watched that, but I like many must have been very curious what was good enough to draw Dennis Quaid from movies to television.

So tonight is an almost full lineup, the episode of Revenge is a bit of a "Hey remember us, you loved us last year" episode with a two minute promo at the end.

The Middle - 8:00 One Hour - ABC/CityTV - Season 4 Episode 1 and 2
Episode Title: Last Whiff of Summer Part 1 and 2
In the fourth-season opener, Frankie gets nostalgic about the summers of her youth. Meanwhile, Axl attends summer school; Frankie wants to know which parent her kids favor; Brick grows a tomato; and Sue attempts to bond with her dad.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I said this last year and I'm saying it again this year. I really wish I caught this from the start. One summer I hope to catch up. I only ever hear good things on twitter about this one and yet in discussion with actual real human beings, no one ever asks me, "Hey Ant, do you watch The middle?" weird.

Survivor: Philippines - 8:00 - CBS/Global - Season 25 Episode 2
Episode Title: Don't Be Blinded by the Headlights
Lisa Whelchel reaches her breaking point; two players make a risky choice to keep each other warm; one team experiences a crushing defeat at the immunity challenge.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I really thought the guy who was trying to pull a great move in the first episode was going to get away with it. It really bothers me that the young 20 year olds always say in the first episode about 35+ year olds, I don't truss em. Why? Because they're smarter than you? Dumb.

Animal Practice - 8:00 - NBC - Season 1 Episode 1
Episode Title: Little Miss Can't Be Wrong
When Doug's dog is injured and requires surgery, he tries to persuade George to perform the operation. Meanwhile, Angela's decision to sell Dr. Rizzo's artwork to a gallery does not sit well with the artist; and Dorothy is desperate for the staff to like her after she realizes she hasn't been included in their happy-hour gatherings.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Everybody now, ANDY!! Oh my god I was killing myself when watching that trailer. I'm in for sure.

The X-Factor - 8:00 Two Hours - FOX/CTV - Season 2 Episode 5
Episode Title: Audition #5
The auditions in front of an audience of thousands continue on THE X FACTOR. Don’t miss the unbelievable tryouts as judges Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, and L.A. Reid continue their search to find the next global superstar or breakout music group worthy of a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music. Find out who will bring the judges and audience to their feet and who will leave the stage heartbroken.

Thoughts from the Media Room: A little more of the same here, we'll see someone who knocks us down and we'll be all like, oh my god I didn't see that coming. Then we'll see someone that we think should be awesome and they'll shatter glass. That's just the show at this point people. With some great one liners from the King of Cruel.

Oh Sit - 8:00 - The CW - Season 1 Episode 9
Episode Title:
Orianthi performs as twelve daredevils compete.

Thoughts from the Media Room: This got renewed today, I really don't even know what this show is. Is it an animal talent show? Seriously, I have no idea. Ok, I have to know what this is. Oh You Tube, hook me up.

Ohhhhh, it's like Wipeout. Funny story, I was typing way too fast, like I normally do and I typed CEW and hit enter which brought up Crew. Which made me think of Future Crew, a Demo group from the 90's. So I had to attach a video of one of the greatest demos ever. The thing you have to remember with this is, this is animated. It's all programmed, like with code. Not sure if you had to program something in Visual Basic in high school, but if you did, you can imagine the time and work this thing took. It is 9 minutes, but it's worth the 9 minutes. Trust me.

Guys With Kids - 8:30/9:30 - NBC/Global - Season 1 Episode 2
Episode Title: Chris' New Girlfriend
Chris hosts a barbecue to introduce the gang to his new girlfriend—who turns out to be a familiar face for Nick. Elsewhere, Gary lands in hot water when he forgets about his wedding anniversary.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Breaking News! I think this is one of the funniest new shows of the season so far.

Modern Family - 9:00 - ABC/CityTV - Season 4 Episode 1
Episode Title: Bringing Up Baby
Jay marks another birthday in the Season 4 premiere with his customary wish to be left alone, one that won't be granted when Phil takes him fishing with his pals, but it's a day he'll never forget—once Gloria figures out how to tell him she's pregnant. Meanwhile, Dylan moves in with the Dunphys on a temporary basis; and Mitchell and Cameron consider adopting a cat.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I was really down on Modern Family a lot last season. I don't know if you're a twitter user or who you follow, but the amount of twitter hate directed to this show during The Emmy's on the weekend was insane.

Criminal Minds - 9:00 - CBS - Season 8 Episode 1
Episode Title: The Silencer
The eighth season begins with a search for an escaped serial killer in Texas who sews the mouths of his victims shut. Meanwhile, the BAU members welcome a new linguistics expert.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I watch this one time to time, but good lord. Could you imagine this show was on at 10:00 or on cable? Week after week, season after season it just gets darker and darker. No wonder said Mandy Patinkin said Criminal Minds was his biggest mistake. Read about that if you haven't here.

Law and Order:SVU - 9:00 Two Hours - NBC - Season 14 Episode 1 and 2
Episode Title: Lost Reputation; Above Suspicion
In the 14th-season opener, Cragen gets arrested for a prostitute's murder, and the squad is assigned a strict new captain. Meanwhile, pressure mounts at the precinct as Cragen is investigated; and Cassidy continues his work deep undercover in a prostitution ring.

The Neighbors - 9:30 - ABC - Season 1 Episode 1
Episode Title: Pilot
A sitcom about a family who move to a gated community in suburban New Jersey where the residents are extraterrestrials from the planet Zabvron. In the premiere, the Weavers are hesitant to stay, but decide to remain when they bond over universal issues such as marital problems and parenting dilemmas.

Thoughts from the Media Room: When I first read about this earlier today, all I could think of was, who in their right mind thought this idea had success written on it. "I'm afraid our little dick exposed himself again" Wow. That's some brilliant writing right there.

Revenge Special - 10:00 - ABC/CityTV
Episode Title: The First Chapter
A look back at the show's first season; sneak peek of the season two premiere.

CSI - 10:00 - CBS/CTV - Season 13 Episode 1
Episode Title: Karma to Burn
D.B. Russell’s granddaughter was kidnapped in last season’s finale cliffhanger and now he leads the CSI team on a hunt to find her.

What's Playing in the Media Room - September 25th

Well, the ratings are in from last night and looks like we have a front runner in the first show to be cancelled category. Sorry Mob Doctor, in your second week you only had 3.96 million for a 1.3/3.0 rating. Translates to, nooooot good and you might end up going ahead of Fringe come Friday nights.  Coming in a close second might be Partners, I've only read bad things about that one leading up to and after it's airing.   I had to finish the episode last night just to see how low they could go.  The answer, low.

For the full ratings break-down, head on over to the great folks at TheTVAddict.com.

Tonight we've got a few new ones.  Ben & Kate have been getting some pretty good reviews so far this season, so I've got high hopes for that one.  After last night's horrible comedic showing, I'M due for some serious laughter tonight.  My Cosby Show re-watch is only going to get me so far. Mindy Kaling appears to bring in some serious guest star super power for this pilot.  I was never a big fan of the Kelly character on The Office, so I'm not sure how I'm going to take this one.  The promo does look good, so fingers crossed for that one. Then we've got Vegas, I've watched this promo a few times and I have to say, I'm VERY confused what year this is supposed to be happening.  At times it looks like it's the start of Vegas at others it looks very, very modern.  Note to the dialog and wardrobe here.  Nice to see Dennis Quaid make the jump to television but I really don't know what to think going in.

Parenthood fans, I'm thinking you'll need a box of tissues because tonight's episode looks like it's going to be heavy.

Let's take a look and see what else is on the menu tonight.  Enjoy your night.

What's Playing in the Media Room - September 24th

After what felt like the longest day ever at work, tonight is coming quickly.  TV is back!! Lots of great stuff to choose from.  Get ready PVRs because your summer off has ended!

Dancing With the Stars:All Stars - 8:00 Two Hours - ABC/CTV- Season 15 Episode 1
Episode Title: Episode 1501
In the 15th-season opener, previous contestants return to the dance floor and perform the cha-cha or the fox-trot. Competitors include Kirstie Alley, Emmitt Smith, Bristol Palin, Drew Lachey and Shawn Johnson.

Thoughts from the Media Room: People complain that Survivor has been on for like 24 seasons. At least the Producers of that show actually to try and change up the game a little bit. I'm stunned that this has been on this long. Enough already.

How I Met Your Mother - 8:00 - CBS/CityTV - Season 8 Episode 1
Episode Title: Farhampton
The sitcom rings in Season 8 with wedding bells for the impending nuptials of Barney and Robin, but concerns that one or both of them will get cold feet cloud the happy time. Meanwhile, all the matrimonial jitters trigger Ted's memories of Victoria's wedding day and how he insisted that she leave her fiancé a note after deciding to leave him at the altar.

Thoughts from the Media Room: This actually could be the last season here, so it might actually happen. We might actually meet the mother, unless of course they're given one more season to "wrap" it up. But the writers have assured us that they're writing this one like it's the last. We'll see tricky writers, we'll see.

The Voice - 8:00 Two Hours - NBC - Season 3 Episode 6
Episode Title: Blind Auditions Continued, Part 6
The blind auditions continue.

Bones - 8:00 - FOX/Global - Season 8 Episode 2
Episode Title: The Partners in the Divorce
The Jeffersonian team's investigation of the murder of a polarizing divorce lawyer takes a strange turn when they learn that important evidence has been hidden by the man's widow and assistant. Meanwhile, Brennan tries to get back into a normal routine, but her three-month separation from Booth is making it difficult.

The L.A. Complex - 8:00 - The CW - Season 2 Episode 12
Episode Title: Xs and Os
Abby panics after she makes an impulsive decision with Gray; Beth fears that she will lose Simon; Kal struggles to make a decision about his relationship with his dad; Connor's sister makes a move that shocks him; Nick suffers a career low; Sabrina receives career-changing news.

Partners - 8:30 - CBS/CityTV - Season 1 Episode 1
Episode Title: Pilot
A sitcom about the longtime fraternal friendship between two business partners, one straight and one gay, begins with Joe up in the air about whether to get engaged to his girlfriend. Well-intentioned Louis steps in to help, but may have done more harm than good.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Another comedy that looks like more of the same. Looks somewhat funny, but it's still more of the same. Give us something new!

2 Broke Girls - 9:00 - CBS/CityTV - Season 2 Episode 1
Episode Title: And the Hidden Stash
The second season begins with the girls visiting Caroline's father in prison. He encourages them to attend the Channing family's estate auction and to buy a particular keepsake.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I'm really hoping that this show is more consistent this season. This show can be one of the funniest shows on television, but then it usually has a stinker episode or two right after that.

The Mob Doctor - 9:00 - FOX - Season 1 Episode 2
Episode Title: Family Secrets
Constantine arranges a meeting for Grace with Moretti's former rival, who is plagued by an undetermined—but perhaps fatal—medical condition. Meanwhile, Grace and Brett treat a young bride with emotional problems.

Thoughts from the Media Room: This could be the last one I watch of this one. It really didn't grab me.

The L.A. Complex - 9:00 - The CW - Season 2 Episode 13
Episode Title: Don't Say Goodbye
The second season concludes with Connor experiencing an uncomfortable moment with Charlotte and seeking solace in Scienetics. Meanwhile, Raquel prepares for a fund-raiser; and Beth fights to keep Simon in her life.

Mike and Molly - 9:30 - CBS - Season 3 Episode 1
Episode Title: The Honeymoon Is Over
In the Season 3 premiere, Mike and Molly's honeymoon in Paris inspires him to make some life-altering changes that include traveling more extensively, while Molly wonders how their friends and family fared without them.

Castle - 10:00 - ABC/CTV - Season 5 Episode 1
Episode Title: After the Storm
In the Season 5 opener, a night of passion forces Castle and Beckett to reexamine their relationship. Meanwhile, they must go up against the people who murdered Beckett's mother and are now threatening Beckett's life; and Beckett clashes with a senator.

Because you must have seen a promo like a million times already in the past week. Here's another look at a slightly different promo.

Thoughts from the Media Room: So the producers promise that they won't Moonlighting this thing. But after watching this promo, I'm really not so sure. Here's hoping the banter continues, only now. We're in on the joke as well.

Hawaii Five-0 - 10:00 - CBS/Global - Season 3 Episode 1
Episode Title: La O Na Makuahine (Mother's Day)
The third season begins with McGarrett dealing with the realization that his thought-to-be-deceased mother is alive. Meanwhile, Five-0 hunts for Wo Fat to avenge the death of a team family member.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Season 4? I'm not so sure.

Revolution - 10:00 - NBC/CityTV - Season 1 Episode 2
Episode Title: Chained Heat
Miles and the team set out to locate rebel fighter Nora in the hope that she'll join them in rescuing Danny. Meanwhile, Aaron confides in Maggie; and Danny sees firsthand what Neville is capable of. `

Thoughts from the Media Room: I was kind of surprised with this promo, stuff actually happens. I'm interested, but I'm really not sure if I can get over the horrible acting here.

Presenters include Louis C.K., Ricky Gervais, Ginnifer Goodwin, Mindy Kaling, Jim Parsons and Amy Poehler.

Thoughts from the Media Room: After looking at the nominations, I ask. What would network television do without The Good Wife? It's the only Network Drama that even gets a mention during the show. Everything else Drama related is Cable! Come on Network Television, can't you develop strong dramas?

Go print off and battle the others in your house with an Emmy Ballot here.

What's Playing in the Media Room - September 17th

It's been too long since I last posted, we're a week into the tv season already.  I've already watched a few new shows with very mixed results.  I loved Guys with Kids, by the second episode I'd grown tired of The New Normal and I hated Go On with Matthew Perry.

Let's not waste any time and lets get right into tonight's tv lineup.

CMA Music Festival - 8:00 Three Hours - ABC/CTV
Performers include Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Kix Brooks, Scotty McCreery, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley and Zac Brown Band. Luke Bryan and Kimberly Perry host this recap of the four-day event in June 2012 that also features interviews and late-night jams.

The Voice - 8:00 - NBC - Season 3 Episode 4
Episode Title: Blind Auditions Continued
The "blind auditions" continue and are held in front of the celebrity panel of coaches, who each hand pick vocalists for their individual teams. The strongest vocalists from across the country compete to be selected by one of the coaches and fight for a chance to win the title.

Thoughts from the Media Room: It should be pointed out that The Voice is beating The X Factor in the ratings by quite a bit.

Bones - 8:00 - FOX/Global - Season 8 Episode 1
Episode Title: The Future in the Past
The eighth season begins three months after Brennan went on the run from the FBI, but the Jeffersonian team is doing everything it can to prove that she was framed for murder by diabolical genius Christopher Pelant, and their case gets a boost from an anonymous tip that leads to the discovery of a high-school guidance counselor's remains.

Thoughts from the Media Room: 8th season?!? Wow, are fans starting to get a bit tired with this one or are you loving it just as much as ever?

The L.A. Complex - 8:00 - The CW - Season 2 Episode 10
Episode Title: Make it Right
Kal and Abby search for Tariq; Connor is introduced to a new religion; Beth and Simon get a surprise visitor; Sabrina makes a confession that leads to change.

The Mob Doctor - 9:00 - Fox - Season 1 Episode 1
Episode Title: Pilot
A surgeon is beholden to the Chicago Mafia when she pays off her brother's gambling debts in this drama, which begins with a dangerous dilemma for Dr. Grace Devlin after a crime boss orders her to kill a patient—who happens to be a mob informant in a witness-protection program and about to testify for the prosecution.

Plot:
A young thoracic surgeon becomes indebted to the South Chicago mafia and is forced to moonlight as a mob doctor, while also working full time at Chicago's most prominent hospital.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I'm sorry, but I just don't get the draw on this one. The title alone just kills it for me. Like everything, I'll watch the first episode to see what's up.

Stars Jordana Spiro from Harry's Law, Zeljiko Ivanek from The Event, Damages, 24 Heroes fame, he usually play a dick for some reason so I'm expecting more of the same here. William Forsythe from Boardwalk Empire, Las Vegas, The Untouchables, Dick Tracey plays the bad guy here. I'm sensing a pattern in his roles.

The L.A. Complex - 9:00 - The CW - Season 2 Episode 11
Episode Title: Now or Never
Kal receives devastating news; Nick is forced to let Sabrina move in with him; Raquel continues to raise money for her film.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I've never watched an episode of this, but when it airs twitter activity goes up quite a bit and most of the tweets I read are very, very positive. I've always considered CW "fluff" and never given it a thought.

Revolution - 10:00 - NBC/CityTV - Season 1 Episode 1
Episode Title: Pilot
The postapocalyptic series begins with Charlie and several others trekking from their pastoral home to Chicago in search of her uncle Miles, whom she hopes will help her rescue her brother Danny, who's been taken by a militia. Along the way, she makes the acquaintance of an archer named Nate, who helps her crew out of a jam. Danny, meanwhile, struggles to free himself from the clutches of the militia.

Plot:
Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down lanterns and candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it? On the fringes of small farming communities, danger lurks. And a young woman's life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously - and unbeknownst to her - had something to do with the blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future

Thoughts from the Media Room: Watched this episode at Fan Expo a few weeks back and was crushingly disappointed. JJ Abrams, who if you've followed this blog you know I've got a serious guy-crush on and Jon Favreau and who doesn't love Favreau, are behind this one. I was bored to tears and almost feel asleep a few times, that could have been because the room was warm, but I simply wasn't entertained and at times the acting was downright horrible. I still hold out high hopes for this one as the premise is just too cool to ignore.

We'll find Elizabeth Mitchell from that other Abrams show Lost in this one, as well as a baddie from Breaking Bad Giancarlo Esposito.

Read the ever awesome Doc Jensen article/interview with Abrams and Favreau here.

The Media Room plays, hey, where have I seen XXXX before?
So we're already a week and a bit into the tv season and we've all watched a few shows and thought, wait a second, what show have I watched XXXX in before.

Matthew Perry's Go On premiered last week, while I thought it was horrible it did have former star of Everyone Hates Chris, Tyler James Williams and former annoying girlfriend on Terra Nova Allison Miller as now an annoying co-worker on there as well.

The New Normal started and former Hangover victim Justin Bartha has made the move to network television for this. In the promos I've watched for fall television, I'm very surprised how many "movie actors" have made the jump to television this year.

On another note, Ryan Murphy, producer/creator of Glee, American Horror Story and now The New Normal, enough of NeNe Leakes. She's annoying and you've given her 2 too many chances in your shows. If she shows up in AHS this season, I'm going to lose my shit.

Jimmy Fallon brought us Guys with Kids in to our Media Room's last week and I loved it. Great to see Tempestt Bledsoe of Cosby Show fame back on television. You might recognize Jesse Bradford from the hit movie Hackers in that one.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I recently have discovered Collection Intervention, have people watched this? People with giant collections of cool stuff like action Figures, toys and comics that have just taken over their homes and lives. Airs on SyFy in the States and Slice here in Canada.

You'd be stunned to know just how many millions of people watch this show. People want more of this family and TLC is more than happy to show it and makes lots of money doing it. *sigh*
