Episode Title: Episode #12.2
A week after their first dances, all of the couples were back on "Dancing with the Stars" for another chance to impress the voters before the first elimination.

Thoughts from the Media Room: The 8:00 PM episode is "the story so far", didn't it just start? We're not half way in or anything. Do we really need the story so far? They Dance, we vote and they get the boot. Isn't that how this show works? The booting should take place in the second hour.

Being Human

I've had a long tough week at work that has left me incredibly sore and stiff.  Most likely in need of a good massage.

But here on a  chilly Sunday afternoon, I lay, twisted in a weird viewing position on the futon in our office aka the spare bedroom watching the 4 most recent episodes of Being Human.

Thankfully the show has gotten fantastically dark.  Aiden, starting to grow emotions just like an "alive" person would, doing things for his friend, his best friend, a friend that should be his kinds "enemy" in an attempt to try and save him.  He tries so hard to have a normal life. All why keeping his friends at arms length of what his people truly are like.

Josh the neutrotic Werewolf trying to protect all around him from his deadly little secret.  Afraid to let anyone in and seeing what he really his.  Never allowing others attaching themselves to him on an emotional level.  Craving love like a wolf would crave meat, but never allowing himself to truly feel that just in case he hurts anyone on a much deeper level.

Then there is Sally, a ghost who just keeps on getting hurt and all she does is try and help people.

I've never watched the British version, but I hear it's much better than the US version.  Well, I don't think the US version is all that bad on its own.

New Game of Thrones Pictures

I think HBO has marketed this series perfectly.  They have released a lot, but not enough to totally ruin the show for me.  They've certainly peaked my interest to a much, much higher level.  The promos and pictures are working.  Anticipation for this show around the internet is at a fever pitch.  The Fans can't wait much longer and thankfully they won't have to.

I've only read the first half of the first book and it's a great story so far.  So I kinda know what's going on with the story, but even then, the promo's are edited in such a way they don't give away everything.  You finish watching them and you want to see more.  You want to see more into this world that's being created in front of us.

Thankfully HBO released a few more pictures today and here they are.

I do love the shot of "The Wall", in the book they really do make it sound massive and judging by the size of the people on horseback leaving it.  It will be massive.  I'm glad they released a pic of that because if you haven't read the books, you must be thinking, what the hell are they keeping the other side of that wall out of their lands?  What indeed.

Thoughts on this Weekends Wizard World Toronto Comic Con

So this past weekend after a long month of work so far, was the Wizard World Comic Con was finally here. I'd been looking forward to the show, it's been a long month, this was kind of a treat for me.  Last year was the first year of the show here in Toronto for Wizard, so I gave it major slack after being quite disappointed with the first one.  I thought to myself, it's the second year, putting on Cons is what these guys do, this year will be better.  To me...it wasn't...it was worse.

First off, I'm a comics guy, I'm not a wrestler guy anymore, I dug that like boys do when they are 12, but I've moved on.  Weirdly, being a geek, I'm not a huge "sci fi" fan, but I get the draw.  My point being, I go to these shows for comics, to go to comics panels and to get great deals so I can add to my rapidly growing collection.  I get that Comic "culture" and "geek culture" are both very hot right now, I get that.  I do.  I know they are trying to get as many people in the door to check out all these neat things.  I do.  Shows like San Diego and C2E2 have really changed Comic Cons, for the good.  But really, at the end of the day, it's still a Comic Con.

That's where I've got issue with this weekend's event.  I know this year's event was scheduled the day after last years event so they had the whole year to plan it.  But did they plan it over a weekend?  Sadly, this event was scheduled on the same weekend as the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, C2E2.  That event is massive.  One of the biggest in America.  So of course major comic companies are going to send everything they've got to that show over the Wizard Show in Toronto.  First error in my opinion, once they found out C2E2 was the same weekend.  Move the show.  Try to bring in big talent and companies, you've got to sell this show or people will stop going to this one and just wait until August.  There wasn't a Marvel or a DC booth at this weekend's show.  How can the two biggest companies in comics not be at this show?

Speaking of planning, I thought the guest line-up was quite under-whelming and bringing Dustin Diamond is almost laughable.  From what I can tell, there was maybe 8 Comic Shop Vendors at this show.  Wouldn't you want to get more vendors there trying to sell more product to try and get more people in to comics?  I've heard the prices for the vendor tables is quite high.  Wizard needs to take a hit on the show for a year or two and try to get more people in the door.  Does a quarter of the floor need to be sectioned off for gaming?  I'm a board gamer, but I'm not spending 60 bucks to go to this show and play some board games and I haven't played Magic since I was in high school.   I've never gone to a show looking for an artists work, the thought has never occurred to me, but after reading peoples comments last night.  I might start looking at that.  Might look good in the media room.  But do the artists really need to be almost half the show floor?  I walked around them and saw some great stuff, but I just kept on walking.

Speaking of walking, I did go to ONE panel this year.  I don't think they even had panels last year.  But last years show was rushed, so I don't hold that against them.  This year I saw  The Walking Dead.  I had to go to something to justify my 60 dollar ticket for the weekend.  The panel was an appearance for Chandler Riggs who plays Carl on the television series.  A few questions about what it's like on set and schooling and stuff.  Typical type questions for an 12 year old.  But he can't bring any real insight to the series.  What are they thinking for season two.  They did show a twenty minute behind the scenes, that I can't help feel was from AMC's website since it said it was premiering Halloween.  Ya, last year.  Way to bring the fans something.  Disappointing.  Sigh.

The rest of the panels were bizarre.  Secrets of Professional Wrestling was the big panel to start the show? Seriously?  A Dustin Diamond Q and A? Really?  I didn't go on Saturday, I had to work :( But the Benz and Williams panels would have been interesting, but not really comic related.  But there was at least 3 comic related panels on Saturday and two on the Sunday.  Sigh.

I went to the show on Friday and Sunday.  I arrived on Friday at 4:30 and was met with no line.  That's great for getting in, but it's not looking good for the show.  Sadly, we were out of the show before 6.  We must have walked around 3 or 4 times by then.  Looked at the "celebs", checked out the vendors and picked up a couple of things that we were looking for.  Sadly, we might have spent more money if all the vendors were actually there on the Friday.  I did read about someone saying, about if you only went for the Friday and all you had was a Friday pass.  Well, that would suck.  Back home before 7.  Went back with a few more people on the Sunday and we got there around 11:30 and were on our way to Silver Snail by 2:25 and that's with me attending a panel that lasted 45 minutes.  I read on Facebook that people were there for all three days?  How? Doing what?  I spent 60 bucks on my ticket and I spent 4 hours in the show and that felt one hour to long.

I don't want to compare this to the other big show in town.  But if I have to choose overcrowding with lots to do and empty and nothing for this comics guy to do.  I'll take the over crowding.  Or I'll have to start driving to the other shows in the States.  That would just be sad.

I knew I was in trouble when I walked in the door and I was greeted by the truck from Halo.

March Premieres and Finales

Yes I know it's almost half way through March and with the premiere of the second season of Sister Wives tonight. I needed to put a list together of all the premieres and finales that are occuring this month.

Let's start with the premieres:

Sister Wives - March 13 - TLC
Storage Wars - March 16 - A and E
Manhunters - March 17 - A and E
Dancing With The Stars - March 21 - ABC
Destination Truth - March 22 - SyFy
Marcel's Quantum Kitchen - March 22 - SYFY
Hard Times of RJ Berger - March 24 - MTV
Nurse Jackie - March 28 - Showtime
United States of Tara - March 28 - Showtime
What The Sell? - March 29 - TLC
Body of Proof - March 29 - ABC

Thoughts from the Media Room:  Mrs. Media Room loves Sister Wives, Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara so she'll be excited about those.  I'll check out the start of Body of Proof, but there isn't really anything here that jumps out at me as much watch.  Next month on the other hand, wow, next month is going to be a great month for starting television.  Chaos, The Borgias, Game of Thrones, The Killing, Happy Endings and Treme just to name a few.

And the finales:

The Bachelor - March 14 - ABC
Outrageous Kid Parties - March 14 - TLC
Onion Sportsdome - March 15 - Comedy
V - March 15 - ABC
Face Off - March 16 - SyFy
Ultimate Factories - March 17 - NGC
Supernanny - March 18 - ABC
Big Love - March 20 - HBO
Detroit 187 - March 20 - ABC
Intervention - March 21 - A and E
Skins - March 21 - MTV
Hot In Cleveland - March 23 - TVland/CTV
Retired at 35 - March 23 - TvLand
Fairly Legal - March 24 - USA Network
Jersey Shore - March 24 - MTV
Funny or Die Presents - March 25 - HBO
Californication - March 27 - Showtime
Shameless - March 27 - Showtime
Heavy - March 28 - A and E

Thoughts from the Media Room:  Some of these finales make me sad as I'm not sure they'll be getting another season and some me sad because I can't believe they're ending already, I'm talking about you Shameless.  Detroit 187 has got to be the best cop show on television this season and no one is watching it and it's not looking good for a second season.  Just sad.  Californication, I'll miss you Moody, I'm just not sure how much longer we can watch you be a total fuck up.  Will you ever grow up?  We say goodbye forever to Supernanny and Big Love.  Never watched either, but I'm guessing there will be a lot of tissues wiping up tears March 20th when people say good bye to Bill and his family on Big Love.

Next month finales include:  Harry's Law, No Ordinary Family, Lights Out, Being Human and Archer.

Steve Carell is leaving the office - Details

So if you visit any entertainment website you may have heard that Michael Scott is leaving Dunder Mifflin. Kind of hard not to, the news rattled everyone when it first officially broke months ago.

Looks like his final episode will finally be, April 28th. Will Ferrell will be popping by the Office starting April 14th, and be there April 21st, April 28th and one more episode after that. As reported, Ferrell will NOT be the new man in charge of this group of misfits. That hopefully will be decided in the hour long finale May 19th.

Personally, I can't wait for this to be over. This season has been highly inconsistent and at times not even close to anything resembling funny. Where the hell has Jim been? This should be his time to shine. I would have liked to see them ease Michael out and let someone else start taking over the lead. But the writers have decided to take the bandaid approach and just pull him out in one motion. I've even found it uncomfortable at times, because we all know Michael is leaving and we're just waiting to see what triggers the move. Michael has never taken any decision lightly and often consults pretty much everyone in the office for the smallest decisions. I can't imagine that he'll take this one lightly, I really don't see him just standing up in his office and saying, alright that's it. I'm outta here and walking out.

There was one strange rumor circulating the Internet that Michael would be going to Hollywood to start his movie career after the airing of his film, Threat Level Midnight, a few couple weeks back. That rumor has quickly been shot down by the producers. Like many, I think it will involve a different kind of Holly. He's lost love so many times, he's in love now and he's not going to lose it again. If Holly goes back to her home branch in a few weeks when Toby returns. I expect Michael to follow and give Holly the wedding she's always wanted.

Just end it already and let's get back to the funny and get this show on track. I haven't really enjoyed it in a couple years now. I never understood the Sabre take-over and I've never really been able to figure out what Gabe's role is in the org structure of the office. He's just a fun sucker and I don't think that's on his business card.

Just get Jim back stat and have him pull some pranks on Dwight already.

But realistically, how long will The Office survive without Michael? I'm betting, not long.
