What's playing in the media room - September 30th 2010

Was only able to catch Survivor last night, who would have guessed that having tribes split by age would have so much drama. NaOnka you so need to go, I really can't take your ignorance and rudeness any longer. Pushing people down just to get a clue to the hidden immunity idol. Real classy. Marty, could you be any more jealous. Good strategy, take the tribes leader and crush the tribe so they'll make you the leader. You could have used Jimmy until the merge and then got rid of him. Dumb. I tried to watch Undercovers while I was putting the Daily News post together but I really wasn't watching it so I'll try to catch up with that on the weekend. But I did realize that the show doesn't seem to have the intensity that it should have for a show about spies.

Let's take a look at Thursdays lineup, does it scare other people? Or is that just me. I've got one thing Sundays and I think Tuesday and then we've got Thursdays with 8 shows that I would like to watch. Ugh.

My Generation - 8:00 - ABC - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: Home Movies

Steven struggles while he finds his footing as father to his 9-year-old son. Dawn opens up about her family as Rolly, in Afghanistan, misses the big moments in Dawn’s pregnancy.

I really enjoyed the concept of this show last week, with some tweaking I think this show could be really good. If the reviews and the ratings have anything to say about it, I don't think it'll make it to week 4.

The Big Bang Theory - 8:00 - CBS - Season 4 Episode 2

Episode Title: The Cruciferous Vegetable Amplification

Sheldon hatches a plan to extend his lifespan when he realizes he won’t be around to see the technology that will be able to download his consciousness into a robot. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has a cameo.

Funniest comedy of television.

Community - 8:00 - NBC - Season 2 Episode 2

Episode Title: Accounting for Lawyers

Jeff runs into some of his former law-firm colleagues (Rob Corddry, Drew Carey) and returns to some old vices. Seeing the changes in Jeff, the study group decide to come to his rescue, only to find themselves corrupted in the process.

Can't wait to see this, I loved Rob Corddry in Hot Tub Time Machine. Plus his comedy Children's Hospital is twisted and very funny.

Bones - 8:00 - Fox - Season 6 Episode 2

Episode Title: The Couple in the Cave

A couple's remains that are discovered in a National Park cave create a double mystery: who are they and why were they killed? Elsewhere, Booth's girlfriend drops by, unexpectedly stateside from her assignment as a correspondent in Afghanistan, which leaves Brennan unsure of her relationship with Booth.

The Vampire Diaries - 8:00 - CW Season 2 Episode 4

Episode Title: Memory Lane

Stefan takes more dramatic actions as he tries to discover the truth behind why Katherine has returned to Mystic Falls, and he is stunned when Katherine reveals some new information about the events that unfolded in 1864. Damon tries using a new method to resolve his issues with Mason, but his decision has serious consequences. Tyler pressures Mason to tell him the truth about the Lockwood family. Stefan and Elena are faced with limited options when Katherine gives them an ultimatum.

$#*! My Dad Says - 8:30 - CBS - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: Wi-Fight

Ed refuses to allow a wireless Internet connection to be installed in the house and Vince convinces Bonnie to allow Ed, a retired doctor, to examine her body.

I hated this last week and don't plan on watching this week. Curious to see the ratings for this tomorrow morning.

30 Rock - 8:30 - NBC - Season 5 Episode 2

Episode Title: When it Rains, it Pours

Liz puts her newfound self-confidence to use by assisting Pete with the issues he's been having with a TGS editor. Jack feel the best way to teach he and Avery's impending child to live is to cheat death. Tracy wants to be there for the birth of his next child, and Kenneth's page work somehow keeps getting completed despite his absence.

Paul Giamatti guest stars this week.

The Office -9:00 - NBC - Season 7 Episode 2

Episode Title: Counseling

Corporate pushes Michael into counseling sessions with his office nemesis—Toby. Meanwhile, Dwight launches a mission of revenge against the mall-shop owner who rebuffed him and Pam sets out to change her job title.

Grey’s Anatomy - 9:00 - ABC - Season 7 Episode 2

Episode Title: Shock to the System

After weeks of concealing the fact she was pregnant and miscarried, Meredith at last tells Derek and is finally cleared to return to her surgical duties in the wake of the hospital shooting spree; Cristina experiences post-traumatic stress disorder in the midst of an operation; and Bailey refuses to let Alex operate until he agrees to have the bullet in his chest removed.

CSI - 9:00 - CBS - Season 11 Episode 2

Episode Title: Pool Shark

The CSIs investigate when a shark reportedly attacks a woman in a casino’s swimming pool. The probe centers on whether the killer is human or indeed a shark.

Elliott Gould, Method Man and Holly Madison guest star.

Fringe - 9:00 - Fox - Season 3 Episode 2

Episode Title: The Box

Alternate Olivia joins Peter and Walter on a case involving a strange box that may be causing people to go into trances from which they never emerge. Meanwhile, Walter meets Nina at Massive Dynamic for a reading of William Bell’s will.

Nikita - 9:00 - The CW - Season 1 Episode 4

Episode Title: Rough Trade

Nikita revisits her past when she posed as a nanny for a key government official and decides to right the wrong of his death. During the mission, Michael rescues Nikita and starts to have doubts about Percy's intentions. Alex suffers from a panic attack during basic training at Division, and Amanda helps Alex break her claustrophobia.

This does seem to be getting a bit better week after week.

Project Runway - 9:00 - Bravo

Episode Title: There’s a Pattern Here

The designers design their own pattern and craft garments based on memories in their lives, with old photographs of themselves giving them additional inspiration.

Outsourced - 9:30 - NBC - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: The Measure of a Manmeet

Todd reluctantly start to do the employees evaluations, and the staff gets very nervious about their jobs. After Todd's boss Jerry sees the sales numbers, he tells Todd to fire someone from his team. Unwilling to fire someone, Todd creates a plan to save everyone's job.

Wow this was awful last week, another one I'm curious about how many people come back for more punishment.

Private Practice - 10:00 - ABC - Season 4 Episode 2

Episode Title: Shorts Cuts

Violet and Cooper adjust their friendship to please their lovers; Pete and Cooper clash over a pot-smoking patient (Justine Bateman); Addison is uneasy about disclosing her new romance; Sheldon and Charlotte disagree over a patient’s sex-change request.

The Mentalist - 10:00 - CBS - Season 3 Episode 2

Episode Title: Cackle-Bladder Blood

When Jane’s shady brother-in-law (Kevin Rankin) comes to town and becomes a suspect in a murder investigation, a reluctant Jane is forced to help him.

The Apprentice - 10:00 - NBC

The teams must run all aspects of a canine care and spa; one project manager threatens to bench a team member; a surprise visit from Cesar Millan puts the contestants on their toes; another candidate is fired.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia - 10:00 - FOX - Season 6 Episode 3

Episode Title: The Gang Buys a Boat

Mac, Charlie and Dennis buy a boat to “throw some P. Diddy-style parties,” as Mac puts it, and, Charlie insists, to harvest shrimp (or barnacles). They end up with a run-down houseboat, the Drowning Sailor, and Mac and Dennis order Dee (who didn’t invest in it) to clean it up. Frank, sledgehammer in hand, offers to help.

The League - 10:30 - FX Network - Season 2 Episode 3

Episode Title: The White Knuckler

Andre brings in a new partner to expand his practice; Ruxin uses a sick kid to meet NFL star Josh Cribbs; Pete deals with the complications of dating Kevin’s ex-girlfriend.

Busy night indeed, sigh...

I'll be watching My Generation, Big Bang Theory, Community, Vampire Diaries, CSI, The Office, and Nikita.

Daily Tv News - September 29th 2010

I haven't posted a news update in a few days so I wanted to catch people up with what's been happening. It's been super busy news wise today and over the last few days. Let's just hope right in there:

The big one the yesterday was that we've already had our first causality of the season. Fox wasted no time in bringing axe down on Lone Star, you can read my re-action post here.

In keeping with the Lone Star theme; the Daily Beast compiled a list of 10 quickly axed shows and you can enjoy that list here.

Another biggie today was the news that three captains from the Discovery Channels deadliest catch have quit. Sig Hansen and the Hillstrand brothers have decided to call it quits with the show. A few weeks ago the news dropped that the Discovery Channel was suing a group from the show.

Not 4 days after the premiere of Sister Wives, the feds have decided to investigate the family for bigamy. Police in Lehi, Utah. told People they were looking into the family's situation before the show's Sunday premiere, and confirmed that publicity surrounding the series prompted the legal curiosity.

Social Network screenwriter Aaron Sorkin claims that Facebook doesn't bring us closer but actually pushes us apart. Enjoy the video where he speaks about it.

Mel Gibson's former girlfriend and baby momma Oksana Grigorieva is going to make her first interview on Oprah's couch. 60 Minutes tried to get the interview but she turned them down to appear on Oprah.

Burlesque superstar Dita Von Teese has signed on to appear as a guest star on CSI: Las Vegas.

On Tuesday night Glee got some outstanding ratings, almost 14 million people watched the Glee club sing Britney Spears greatest hits. It was the most watched episode of Glee in its history.

Another great piece of news is that George Lucas has announced that he'll be re-releasing the Star Wars movies in 3D. The movies will start with Phantom Menace in 2012 and he'll release one movie each year after that. After seeing Avatar and what could be done with 3D technology now he said he just had to do that to the classics.

I know not too many people enjoy Dane Cook's comedy, but I had to post this video he does of Michael Bolton.

Jersey Shore fans will be pleased to read that Snooki has just signed a book deal, she's actually the 4th "star" of the series to get a book deal. The book will be released in January by Gallery Books. The question is, while it be a popup book or a coloring book?

Here's the first look of the new judge lineup from American Idol.

Another first look at the Cylons from an upcoming episode of Caprica. It premieres October 5th on Space.

HRG(Jack Coleman) from Heroes is going to be joining The Office as a government official. The timing of that appearance is still being worked out.

A big rumor has come out of the Glee camp that for their Super Bowl episode they're planning to do either Bruce Springsteen or Michael Jackson music. I think the King of Pop would work better for this show. I don't see those kids idolizing The Boss over Michael.

Rachel Bilson from The OC and fresh off an appearance on How I Met Your Mother has just signed on for a pilot for NBC. The romantic comedy is titled Ghost Angeles.

NBC has also picked up a Jack Black comedy called My Life As An Experiment based on the book of the same title.

A couple of former Lost stars casting notes:
Maggie Grace(Shannon) has signed up for a role in the final Twilight Movie, she'll be playing Irina.
Josh Holloway(Sawyer) has put his name next to the next Mission Impossible movie which has yet to be officially named.

Dexter which premiered on Sunday night for Showtime had its biggest premiere ratings so far in the series' history. Dexter got 1.8 million viewers and they got another 500,000 when it repeated again at 11:00 PM.

Some CMA Award Performers were announced today. Dierks Bentley, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. The 44th Annual awards air November 10th on ABC.

What to Wear's premiere date has been announced, the 13 episode season on TLC will begin October 19th.

Syfy network aired the original movie Sharktopus on the weekend and somehow scored 2.5 million viewers. Wow.

Glee is releasing another album, this time it will be Rocky Horror Picture Show themed. Plus they'll be airing a Rocky Horror episode October 26th.

USA Network, which is currently putting out some great shows I might add, have just renewed Pysch, Royal Pains and White Collar.

HIlary Duff has just signed on as a guest on Community. Producers say that she'll be playing a "Mean Girls" type of role for an upcoming November sweeps episode.

CBS apparently didn't learn a lesson from Bleep my Dad Says, they're working on yet another Twitter feed based show. This time they're working on @shhdonttellsteve Apparently the feed is from "Steves Roommate" and is actually very amusing, I checked it out after reading this story. That doesn't mean it'll make a great show, I really enjoyed the Twitter feed that's on the air on Thursdays at 8:30 and I REALLY hate the show.

TBS has released the logo from the upcoming Conan show. Enjoy!

Last Comic Standing judge Greg Giraldo died of a drug overdose.

Now that one show has been canceled blogs are wondering what the next show to go will be. The frontrunners right now are: The Whole Truth, My Generation and Running Wilde.

And finally the last piece of news I'm sharing today. Jersey Shore which for some reason plays in Japan, they must think Americans are pretty awesome after that. But the story is, Jersey Shore in Japan is called, get this: Macaroni Rascals.

That's all I've got for today, hope you enjoyed it.

What's playing in the media room - September 29th 2010

Bit a slow night for me last night, did some catching up. Watched Castle, much better episode then the premiere. Also watched Dexter and I totally hated it. I really hope the season picks up and gets much better.

Let's take a look at what we've got tonight.

The Middle - 8:00 - ABC Season 2 Episode 2

Episode Title: Homecoming

Frankie's dream of dressing up and walking Axl onto the football field with Mike at homecoming will finally come true as Axl makes the varsity football team; however, Sue's first cross country meet is the same day, and she and Mike need to decide where they should go. Meanwhile, Mike makes Brick rake the leaves in the yard.

Survivor: Nicaragua - 8:00 - CBS - Season 21 Episode 2

Episode Title: Glitter in the Eyes

A battle erupts over a clue to the hidden immunity idol; a fearless competitor makes a bold move to earn an upper hand. NaOnka continues to argue with her tribe mates.

I'd lose the challenge just to get rid of that woman, she's so negative and just brings down your tribe. 21 Seasons in and last weeks tribal was one of the craziest yet.

Undercovers - 8:00 - NBC - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: Instructions

Steven and Samantha must rescue a scientist who is kidnapped by the security detail that was hired to protect her.

I really hope this gets much better, I wasn't blown away by this last week. Come on Abrams!

Hell’s Kitchen - 8:00 - Fox - Season 8 Episode3

Episode Title: Breakfast

The contestants must prepare a fast and delicious breakfast for 50 EMTs and learn how to prepare a ravioli dish from scratch.

America’s Next Top Model - 8:00 - The CW

Episode Title: Matthew Rolston

The contestants pose while riding a roller coaster; Matthew Rolston photographs the models underwater and serves as a guest judge.

Better With You - 8:30 - ABC - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: Better With Firehouse

When they go house hunting, Casey’s unusual taste in homes concerns Mia; Vicky finds that recently retired Joel is getting on her nerves because he doesn’t know what to do with his newfound free time.

When I watched the pilot last week I found this show very boring and very predictable. Being in the middle of ABC's comedy line up might save it.

Modern Family - 9:00 - ABC - Season 2 Episode 2

Episode Title: The Kiss

When she finds out that Alex is interested in a boy, Claire becomes over-protective, while Haley tries to give her sister advice. Meanwhile, Gloria begins to cook more traditional Colombian food in honor of her late grandmother, which is received in jest by Jay, and Mitchell reveals his adversion to PDA.

This episode is one of the most hyped episodes of television last month. Fans wanted it and they've got it. "The Kiss" I hope this episode is better than last weeks as I wasn't blown away with it.

Law & Order: SVU - 9:00 - NBC - Season 12 Episode 3

Episode Title: Behave

Detectives Benson and Stabler find their hands tied when a victim(Jennifer Love Hewitt) of multiple rapes refuses the rape kit because of the terror of her circumstances. Benson is determined to help, and sets out to find another way, but her research reveals that there are thousands of untested rape kits across the nation. Appalled, she still presses forward with the investigation, finally unearthing a lead in Los Angeles that might see some peace for her victim.

One of my former loves is guesting this week. Still won't watch it.

Criminal Minds - 9:00 - CBS - Season 6 Episode 2

Episode Title: J.J.

J.J. tries to reunite a family with their missing daughter while the BAU team suffers a tragic loss.

It would appear that this is JJ's last episode as it was reported she was leaving the show during the offseason.

Hellcats - 9:00 - The CW - Season 1 Episode 4

Episode Title: Nobody Loves Me But My Mother

Lewis asks Marti out on a date, but she turns him down. Later, Alice and Lewis share a sweaty workout session after she convinces him she will stop taking drugs if he helps her get back in shape as a flier. Savannah takes Dan to meet her parents at their house for dinner, where a demand from Savannah's mother leads to an argument.

This show is actually better then I expected and I've been entertained every week so far. Go Hellcats!!

Cougar Town - 9:30 - ABC - Season 2 Episode 2

Episode Title: Let Yourself Go

Jules tries to spend some time with Travis before he leaves for college because she has trouble coping when he is set to leave. Meanwhile, Laurie teaches Bobby how to surf the internet, while Andy tries to deceive Ellie with a little help from Grayson.

Wasn't blown away with this either last week, usually I find it entertaining.

The Whole Truth - 10:00 - ABC - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: Thicker Than Water

When the body of a wheelchair-user is found in New York Harbor, the man’s daughter is charged with his murder.

Aka Lawyer Show on Wednesday at 10 #1 Really enjoyed this show last week, I like the concept and I enjoyed how Tierney and Morrow played off each other.

Law & Order: Los Angeles - 10:00 - NBC - Season 1 Episode 1

Episode Title: Hollywood

Dets. Rex Winters (Skeet Ulrich) and Tomas “TJ” Jaruszalski (Corey Stoll) investigate robberies committed at the homes of young Hollywood stars, ending in a shocking crime executed at the residence of a young starlet and her stage mom in the debut of this procedural crime-drama series set in L.A.

Aka Lawyer Show on Wednesday at 10 #2 Seriously I'm interested to watch this one, love the glitz and glam of Los Angeles. Been there once and I can't wait to go back. I know big surprise that I loved L.A.

The Defenders - 10:00 - CBS - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: Las Vegas vs. Reid

Nick defends a single mother who is accused of running down a runner while talking on her cell phone. Meanwhile, Pete tries to help a despondent man.

Aka Lawyer Show on Wednesday at 10 #3 I enjoyed this show last week way more then I thought I would. Let's see if it can keep it up. I really hope it can't because I want to hate it and I enjoyed The Whole Truth much more.

Terriers - 10:00 - FX Network - Season 1 Episode 3

Episode Title: Fustercluck

Hank and Britt return to the Lindus case—courtesy of the imprisoned Lindus (Christopher Cousins) himself: He hires them to break into one of his offices and steal $250,000 from the safe.

How could you not want to watch this just by the episode title? This gets better each week and I'm really starting to enjoy it.

Busy night indeed. For me I'm watching: Survivor, Undercovers, Modern Family, Cougar Town, Criminal Minds, Hellcats, The Whole Truth, The Defenders, Law and Order: LA and Terriers. Yikes.

My thoughts on the Lone Star Cancellation

Well aren't we just a choosy bunch or not.

As I announced on my Facebook page last night; Fox was the first network to pull the plug on a new show yesterday and they put Lone Star out of it's misery.

I don't get it on a few levels: Why didn't people like this show? Why didn't anyone watch it and why in the hell did Fox put it in that time-slot

Why didn't people like the show:
Well, that I can't answer as the critics raved about it and I quite enjoyed it. I'm no professional and I just use this blog to push information out to people. Once and a while I write an opinion piece like this as I don't pretend to be a critic. I just know what I like and I liked Lone Star. People I talked to that actually watched it; for the most part they liked it. Out of the gates critics and bloggers were raving about this pilot and called it the best new pilot this season on Network television (Boardwalk Empire got the nod on cable if you were wondering), which is a lot of pressure. I enjoyed the pilot, it wasn't super great but it was entertaining and the most important thing I liked about it was that it was different. I spend a lot of time, some say too much time surfing the net, reading blogs, tv websites and cruising through forums. A lot of people were/are mad at the landscape that is network television right now. It's a lot of the same stuff; horrible reality television, good reality television, cop shows, lawyer shows and we're slowly cutting down on the doctor shows as they've run their course for the time being as well. Sitcoms really started to rebound last year, thank god. So along comes something different and what do we do as the viewer? We totally ignore it. In Lone Star's first week, 4.54 million people watched, down almost 6 million from its lead in show House. That's a lot of people that changed the channel. In the second week, it was about the same as 4.53 million watched, the people that watched it the first week really liked what they saw apparently. I'm surprised it stayed the same because predictions of it's cancellation started Wednesday last week and I'm not sure why the viewers didn't switch over to The Event instead of investing another hour in a show that clearly wasn't going to make it. More on The Event later. I think people did enjoy it, it was just placed in the schedule badly.

Why didn't anyone watch:
I can't answer that either, in this day people can record just about anything with ease. I don't expect people to do as much reading into the upcoming fall season as I do, but don't people at least flip through the paper and read the fall preview in the entertainment section the week before it all starts? It would appear not; as 12.54 million of us tuned in for the shit fest that was bleep my dad says on Thursday night. I'm curious what that shows second week ratings are like. I know our viewing time is minimal and we've got to make hard choices and pick a new show here and there. If it all. Networks have done this all to themselves, why wasn't Lone Star moved to a better time-slot after it's first week. People are very hesitant to get into new shows because they'll wait to see if it makes it and watch it on demand or rent the dvd's after the first season finishes. Networks and cable providers are giving us more viewing options then ever before because we demand and expect it in this age of technology. Are time is valuable and we'll watch a show when we want to watch a show, the tv viewer is changing rapidly and networks are really going to have to deal with that, I don't call bringing the axe out in the second week of the season dealing with it. I call that a panic situation. You didn't even wait a month to see if word spread among viewers and people picked it up via on demand. Allow the show to build an audience, wait and see if The Event crashes and burns on itself and see if you get some of those viewers. I don't know the Itunes download numbers, but Itunes is changing tv viewing once again, especially with the upcoming release of Apple TV 2.0. We've got so many ways to catch up with shows these days, some of them legal and some of them not. Either way, it promotes a show that Fox really didn't. The critics and the bloggers tried, but it would appear that wasn't enough.

Why did Fox set it up for failure:
This point really bothers me, like a lot. NBC has promoted the hell out of The Event for months now. Commercials, internet clues and games, billboards everywhere. They had to, 9:00 PM Monday is a very busy time and you've got to get peoples attention in this low attention span era that we're currently living. They had to get their name out there because they wanted to people to pick their show as the new show to watch at 9:00. Also at 9:00 is the ratings hit Dancing With The Stars which gets almost 22 million viewers in it's second hour. 22 Million?!?!? Stars has become one of the most watched television show on television. I just don't get it. Idol has slipped the last couple of years and looking at the judging panel they've put together I would assume that trend is going to continue. In fact, I predict that next season will be the last season of American Idol. The audience will follow Simon over to X Factor. How many singing shows do we need? Plus you've got the second highest rated comedy with Two and a Half Men, which after last season isn't as good as it used to be either. I don't understand why Fox didn't put Lone Star on Fridays at 9:00 and just put The Good Guys out of its misery because it only drew 2.9 million viewers in it's big comeback. What ever Fox puts in the 9:00 PM time-slot is going to get slaughtered so why not put something that's already on deaths door there instead of something that might actually be decent.

So Fox has pulled the plug and they've decided to put their cop show Lie to Me back in it's 9:00 PM Slot. Great, another cop show and that makes it the 4th cop show of the night. 3 of them are on at 10:00?? By my count that's 19 cop shows and about 9 lawyer shows, a few of those to over lap into both. Talk about some variety, maybe we the viewer shouldn't complain about there being nothing on. There is stuff on, it's cop shows and dancing fourth rate stars of which do nothing to get the title as a star and that's apparently what we want. We've been given choices and we keep choosing the same thing over and over again.

Bottom line, I'm upset at both us; the viewer and network television with how this was handled.

Cable, keep up what you're doing as you're making far superior programming and you actually stick with a show until the end of the season to make a decision.

What's playing in the media room - September 28th 2010

It's Tuesday so that means Glee for most. From what I've seen Glee should be a good episode tonight.

What did people think of Monday's lineup? House was a fantastic episode, it seemed that they threw everything they could at us trying to make us cry. I was happy to see House and Cuddy figure out how they need to do things at work and still remain professional while people's lives hang in the balance. It seems like every time something bad happens to them this season, I'm going to say and here we go, this is the end of Huddy. I enjoyed the second episode of The Event, I'm just not certain I like where the show is going. I PVR'd Lone Star trying to do my part and add to the ratings, I haven't seen the ratings for last night but I really hope Lone Star performed a bit better. From everything I read on Twitter last night people seemed to be loving the episode.

Let's look at Tuesday's lineup.

No Ordinary Family - 8:00 - ABC - Season 1 Episode 1

Episode Title: Pilot

A family that develops superpowers after a plane crash in the Amazon, patriarch Jim (Michael Chiklis) discovers he has immense strength, and his wife, Stephanie (Julie Benz), is blessed with amazing speed. Meanwhile, their 16-year-old daughter, Daphne, turns telepathic, and their learning-disabled 14-year-old son, JJ, becomes a genius.

I watched this a few weeks ago and while I could see why people would enjoy it, the nerd in my isn't totally sold on this one. I think it'll be a good family drama before it'll be a superhero show.

Glee - 8:00 - Fox - Season 2 Episode 2

Episode Title: Britney/Brittany

Will doesn’t want the kids to do a Britney Spears routine. He’s also a bit jealous of Emma’s new dentist boyfriend (John Stamos). A trip to the dentist for the Glee clubbers gives them hallucinations and they sing some Britney Spears' greatest hits. Spears appears as herself.

This has been the most hyped episode of Glee so far this season. I expect big things from this one.

NCIS - 8:00 - CBS - Season Episode

Episode Title: Worst Nightmare

The team searches for a kidnapped a young girl, but their investigation gets much bigger and more complicated when the girl’s grandfather complicates the case when he gets way too involved.

The Biggest Loser - 8:00 Two Hours - NBC

Episode Title: The First Challenge

Two players who didn’t make the cut during the season opener are picked by Bob and Jillian to join the game. Later, the group have their first workout and meet with Dr. Huizenga for health assessments; a surprise early weigh-in puts more players than usual at risk of elimination; and the contestants race each other for the first challenge.

One Tree Hill - 8:00 - The CW - Season 8 Episode 3

Episode Title: The Space in Between

Brooke and Julian spend the day babysitting Jamie. Meanwhile, Nathan makes a big decision about his career. Victoria and Millicent join forces to cook up a scheme.

Dancing With the Stars - 9:00 - ABC

The second contestant gets the boot from the highly popular show. *fingers crossed* it's the situation. Those Jersey kids already get way too much tv time. Someone posted a picture of Sookie on their twitter last night, can that girl get any more orange?

Raising Hope - 9:00 - Fox - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: Dead Tooth

Jimmy needs a babysitter when he goes back to work, so he turns to Sabrina’s cousin (Kate Micucci) for help; Burt tries to persuade Virginia to stop smoking.

I enjoyed this one last week, I liked the family dynamic and every though they didn't want to, the family came together when they needed to. I'll give this one another try.

Life Unexpected - 9:00 - The CW - Season 2 Episode 3

Episode Title: Criminal Incriminated

Lux considers buying the answers to an important exam that she needs to pass to stay in school. Cate accidentally eats banana bread laced with marijuana which leads to an unusual day at the radio station. Ryan and Cate argue about large sum of money when it goes missing from Cate’s wallet.

Does anyone watch this show? Never met anyone that did.

NCIS: Los Angeles - 9:00 - CBS - Season 2 Episode 3

Episode Title: Borderline

Derek and Kensi partner on a mission to find three marines who disappeared after their Humvee was ambushed in the desert. Nate returns from a mysterious assignment.

Running Wilde - 9:30 - Fox - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: Into the Wilde

Emmy’s fiancé (David Cross) shows up at Steve’s estate and ruins Steve’s plans to take Emmy and Puddle on a vacation.

Easily the worst show I watched last week.

The Good Wife -10:00 - CBS - Season 2 Episode 1

Episode Title: Taking Control

Alicia being forced to make a choice between staying with Peter and supporting his political campaign or leaving him to pursue a relationship with Will.

One of the biggest surprises of last season is back and hoping to continue getting the good reviews.

Parenthood - 10:00 - NBC - Season 2 Episode 3

Episode Title: I’m Cooler Than You Think

Sarah’s coworker (Kevin Alejandro) offers advice on Amber, who’s been spending a lot of time with her new friend Kelsey. Julia wants another baby and she works on convincing Joel, Adam works on improving his relationship with Max.

Detroit 1-8-7 - 10:00 - ABC - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: Local Hero/Overboard

Stone is paired with Sanchez on the investigation into the murder of a promising football player, which doesn’t sit well with Fitch; Longford and Mahajan look into the disappearance of a groom during a wedding reception on a party boat. Elsewhere, Mason asks Fitch to speak at a press conference to help quell the public-relations fallout from an incident inside the precinct.

I really enjoyed this one, a few complained about formula. I'll give it another week as I really enjoy the cast they've put together here.

Sons of Anarchy - 10:00 - FOX - Season 3 Episode 4

Episode Title: Home

Jax and Clay head for Canada, thinking that Abel’s there after getting some bad intel from Jimmy O. They want Gemma to head north and out of harm’s way as well, but she has unfinished business with her dad (Hal Holbrook). Happy needs a pharmaceutical favor from Honey (Frances Fisher) in some redneck territory. In Belfast, Jimmy O (Titus Welliver) clashes with Father Kellen Ashby (James Cosmo).

I can't say enough good things about this show. Rent the dvd's and catch up already!

On CBC There are new episodes of Rick Mercer, 22 Minutes and Being Erica.

What will your night look like?

So that's the lineup for tonight...from last week I'm ditching Mike and Molly and Chase. So that thins me down a bit but it's still a busy night for me.

Oh! I just remembered, Entourage Star Adrian Grenier makes his directorial debut on HBO Canada tonight with the film Teenage Paparazzo. It looks into the people behind the camera's and our obsession with celebrities.

Here's what it'll look like: How I Met Your Mother, House, Two and a Half Men, The Event, Lone Star, Castle, Hawaii Five-0, Weeds and The Big C.

Trailer Watch...

I've just been browsing some pretty good trailers for some upcoming movies that I wanted to forward on to you all...

Vince Vaughn's next one...looks pretty good and it's directed by Ron Howard...

The newest trailer for Due Date with Downey Jr. and Zack Galifinakis by director Todd Philips of Hangover fame...I really can't wait to get to the theatre and check this one...

This one is for a indie film that looks like it'll be a real trip...

This weekend Zack Snyder released an animated movie about owls.  Thankfully he's getting back to the type of movies that made him famous.  Check out this trailer for his upcoming Sucker Punch.

This next one is the newest trailer for the next Harry Potter movie which comes out in November, this movie looks like it's going to be epic...

Just stumbled across this one, fresh off some outstanding TIFF reviews.  It certainly looks like it'll be getting some Oscar buzz.

Angelina Jolie and Johnny Deep team up in this interesting looking thriller that's getting a lot of chatter around the web...

After what I thought was a pretty crap summer for movies it certainly looks like the fall is going to be pretty good judging by this...

What's playing in the media room - September 26th 2010

Happy Sunday Morning fellow tv fans...

It's been a long week, if you didn't watch any of the missed pilots last night.  Last night was a great night off from new programming.  The pvr has been cleared as much as I can clear it up, waiting for Mrs. Media Room to return from her diva weekend to do her part before I start deleting Oprahs to make room for another fun filled week.

Today is Dexter day and I can't wait...it's been a long time waiting after one of the greatest season finales I have ever watched.  Let's take a look at what else is on besides Dexter.

The Simpsons - 8:00 PM - Fox - Season 22 Episode 1

Episode Title: Elementary School Musical

Marge sends Lisa to a performing arts camp, where counselors and fellow campers inspire her to embrace her creative side; upon returning to Springfield, Lisa grows restless with her boring suburban lifestyle.  The Glee kids guest start in tonights episode.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - 8:00 PM - ABC - Season 8 Episode 1

Episode Title: Boys Hope
They'll build a crazy house and introduce it to the family and I get misty.  I couldn't take the emotional rollercoaster of this show and had to drop it a few years ago.

The Amazing Race - 8:30 PM - ABC - Season 17 Episode 1

Episode Title:  They don't Call It The Amazing Race for Nothin!

11 Teams travel the globe, including Bangladesh and the Arctic Circle in hopes of winning the grand prize.  Among the teams competiting are a pair of home shopping hosts, a capella singers and beach vollyball partners.  But the journey won't be easy as the contestests face challenge along the route.

Another one I can't wait for, it's always amazing to see how the teams interact with the locals in other countries.

NOTE: It's football season so if you're going to pvr this, record it on ctv.  The CBS schedule typically gets messed up because of delays related to football and you end up only catching the last 15 minutes of The Amazing Race. Plus the premiere is 1.5 hours this season.

The Cleveland Show - 8:30 - Fox - Season 2 Episode 1

Episode Title: Harder, Better, Faster, Browner

Cleveland takes struggling rapper Kayne West under his wing and together they write and record a new hit single.

Desperate Housewives - 9:00 PM - ABC - Season 7 Episode 1

Episode Title: Remember Paul?

Season 7 opens with Vanessa Williams joining the cast as Lynette’s rich friend Renee Perry, who makes an unexpected visit. And Paul Young (Mark Moses) returns with his new wife after his release from prison, and they move into Susan’s old house. Meanwhile, Susan is offered a job by the manager (Lainie Kazan) of the apartment building where she and Mike now live; the newly single Bree is tempted by her handyman (Brian Austin Green); and Carlos and Gaby are keeping secrets from each other.

Do people still watch this one?  I dropped it a loooong time ago.

Dexter - 9:00 PM - Showtime and TMN in Canada - Season 5 Episode 1

Episode Title: My Bad

We start off just minutes after last years finale and we find Dexter dealing with the aftermath of Rita’s murder and making a decision that will impact many of those in his circle of friends, relatives and coworkers. Meanwhile, Quinn concludes that Rita’s death doesn’t match Trinity’s MO, and steps up to help Debra in a time of trouble.

Oh baby, I'm counting the hours before I can watch this one.

Family Guy - 9:00 pm - Fox - Season 9 Episode 1

Episode Title: And Then There Were Fewer

The town of Quahog is invited to a mansion for a weekend getaway. When some murders happen, it turns into a real life murder mystery. “And Then There Were Fewer”

Boardwalk Empire  - 9:00 pm - HBO - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: The Ivory Tower

Straight-laced, uptight Agent Nelson Van Alden investigates a crime which he feels has been pinned on a scapegoat, so pays a visit to Nucky and leaves convinced that the Treasurer is "as corrupt as the day is long." Nucky quickly does damage control, enlisting his brother, Sheriff Elias Thompson, to close ranks with their underlings. Meanwhile, in Chicago, Al Capone shows a local reporter what he thinks about accusations that Johnny Torrio was involved in the killing of local mobster "Big Jim" Colosimo. Back in Atlantic City, Nucky discusses the upcoming election with Commodore Louis Kaestner, his aging mentor, with whom he debates the women's vote issue. Later, before heading out for a night on the town, Nucky chews out an angry Arnold Rothstein over the phone, then meets privately with Margaret Schroeder, who asks him for help in providing for her children. As a long day ends, a traveling salesman named George Baxter, in town for a few days with an unwilling young beauty named Claudia, makes a startling discovery while on the road home to Baltimore.

Can't wait for this one either, damn Sundays got busy.

Rubicon - 9:00 - AMC - Season 1 Episode 10

Episode Title: In Whom We Trust

Will finally has a talk with Katherine Rhumor about API and it's connections to Tom Rhumor and Truxton Spangler. However, both may be in more trouble than they can handle.
This is really a show people NEED to be watching, smart and extremely well written.

Mad Men - 10:00 - AMC - Season 4 Episode 10

Episode Title: Hands and Knees

Betty is a bit unsettled when a surprise visitor stops at the Francis home.

Second last episode of this mega hit, enjoy it while you can.

Brothers & Sisters - 9:00 - ABC - Season 5 Episode 1

Episode Title: The Homecoming

This season picks up a year after the events of the previous season finale revealing what has happened since the events of "On The Road Again" such as whether Robert and Holly survived the car crash and how Saul is dealing with life after discovering he is HIV positive.
The hype for this one seems to be dying down as every year passes, rumor has it that this will be the last year for this family.

Bored to Death - 10:00 - HBO - Season 2 Episode 1

Episode Title: Escape from the Dungeon

Richard Antrem (Oliver Platt) hires Jonathan when he suspects his wife is having an affair; George gets a surprise at his urologist’s office; Ray begins his quest to win Leah back by creating a comic book; Jonathan balks at Stella’s request for an open relationship.

I understand this humor won't be for everyone, but if you've got the space on your pvr, do yourself a favor and watch this one.

Eastbound & Down 10:30 - HBO - Season 2 Episode 1

Episode Title: Chapter 8

Kenny discusses the fanfare for his comeback with Charros owner Sebastian Cisneros (Michael Peña), but the pitcher’s enthusiasm wanes after a surprise visit from Stevie brings depressing news from home.

This humor is really not for everyone, but damn this one if funny.  Loved the first season, rent it as it's only 6 episodes and you could power through it in a few hours.
It's a busy night for sure, what will I be watching?

Amazing Race, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, Bored to Death and Eastbound and Down.

Enjoy your night!

My thoughts on premiere week...

Here I sit in a Starbucks while it rains outside and I enjoy some free Wifi, thanks Starbucks and Bell...what a time we live in...

It's been a long exhausting week, I've introduced myself to lots of new tv, most of it good and it was great to re-connect with some tv friends I haven't seen since May.

It's almost sad to admit this but this week alone I've consumed 12 season premieres, 17 Series Premieres and 9 shows that are already on their 2nd and 3rd episodes. So sadly that means I've watched 38 shows this week. Wow. That's a serious commitment, next week I won't need to watch so many as I'll have to ditch some because they aren't that good and frankly there is no way I can watch 35 plus shows a week and be sane. Some I'll just have to drop because I don't think they'll last just because they've been put into timeslots that are just too crammed and there is no way a new show can simply survive in it's current timeslot.

When I first started looking into the fall season; a few places I frequent said it was a weak fall season. I couldn't disagree more, most of the Series Premieres I've watched in the first few weeks of September I've enjoyed and found quite entertaining. Most of it is the same old stuff with the same tv faces we've seen year after year, but I've still been entertained and isn't that why we stare at the glowing box night after night? How many Cop and Legal based can we watch? Judging by what's happened this week and even though we complain we don't want more Cop and Legal shows, it would appear that's what the general masses really do enjoy.

Weather update: Sun is shining and it isn't raining, but if you look the other direction down the street it's dark and looks very ominous.

Back to the tele, I'm going to run down each day and just purely state my opinion on the pilots I've seen, what I've liked and what I didn't.

Sunday:

Boardwalk Empire - HBO - 7.1 Million Viewers

I know a lot of you saw this as you should have, if a series makes it to air on HBO you know it's going to kick serious ass. The word that best describes this series is: EPIC. HBO loves it and they have already committed to a second season of Empire. They spent 18 million on the pilot episode along, so I don't expect to have the same grand feel every week, regardless you know this is going to be something special.

Ant's Recommendation: Watch

Monday:

The Event - NBC - 10.89 Million Viewers

The most hyped new show of the fall, it was a pretty good start, I think. Serious mystery, the producers have vowed not to keep us waiting like another show that just went off the air for the answers we crave. The biggest complaint with this one is the serious bouncing around the timeline that we experienced, you almost needed a notepad to keep track of the timing of events. People seem to love the concept, but they can't handle the jumping. Great cast, although I'm not a fan of Ritter, that's something I'll have to get over as I'm going to want to keep up with this one as I think it'll be one of the water cooler shows of the season. Although with pvr's is the term "water cooler talk" becoming dated?

Ant's Recommendation: Watch

Mike & Molly - CBS - 12.24 Million Viewers

This one is brought to us by James Burrows who's big hit was Cheers. I will say that Mike and Molly was certainly the funniest of the new comedies this year. The main characters have really good chemistry together. My beef with this one was the amount of fat jokes that were made, it just seems to easy to go back to a fat joke when they haven't had a laugh in a couple minutes. The show really could be much more then that.

Ant's Recommendation: I'll give it a couple more weeks.

Hawaii Five-O - CBS - 14.21 Million Viewers

I enjoyed this one more then I thought I would(A phrase you're going to read a lot in the next 10 minutes). 5-0 is a fun blow stuff up show with a plot that I have to assume will continue on through out the series. In fact I hope he continues to hunt the terrorist we were introduced to in the first episode, bad guys never die after being shot and falling into the water. They always disappear, that's what they do.

Ant's Recommendation: Give it another week and see how it goes.

Lone Star - Fox - 4.54 Million Viewers

I saved this pilot till last because I wanted to see everything else to judge this against; just because this one has gotten so much bad press this week. In this case; the critics were right and the viewers were wrong, very wrong. This is a really good show and people really should be watching it. It's a different show for those that want something different. It's about a con man with some serious daddy issues to work out, the complicated life he leads and we look into the Texas oil cons that he's pulling on people.

Ant's Recommendation: The problem with this show is that it's in a crazy full timeslot and that's really hurting it. Dancing With the Stars, Gossip Girl, Two and a Half Men and the hyped new show The Event. Move this show to another day and time and it would probably do well. That is if most people haven't already read the entertainment section of any website or newspaper realizing this show is already on death watch. People aren't going to continue to watch a show they know the execs already have their hands on the cord and are ready to pull it. It's really a shame.

Chase - NBC - 7.84 Million Viewers

It was a struggle to even finish this one, the plot wasn't very good. The big issue I had with this was I couldn't buy the main character as a US Marshall. If I don't buy her as a cop how I can believe the rest of the show? Plus she's a really bad actress.

Ant's Recommendation: Drop it like it's hot. My PVR will be busy with Castle and Hawaii Five-0 during the 10 pm hour.

So my revised Monday schedule looks like this:

8:00 How I Met Your Mother
9:00 Two and a Half Men, The Event
10:00 Hawaii Five-O, Castle

Tuesday:

Raising Hope - Fox - 7.48 Million Viewers

I enjoyed this more then I thought, (See!), I was happy to see a former Goonie getting some work, even if she's playing a Grandmother in the show. That's my biggest issue, how is she even old enough to play a Grandmother? She doesn't really look all that much older then the main character. I'm still not sold on the main character yet and hopefully I will after time.

Ant's Recommendation: Give it another week.

Running Wilde - Fox - 5.87 Million Viewers

It does shame me to say that I've only ever watched a few episodes of Arrested Development and I'm not totally sold on the comedy. So you can imagine that I didn't like Wilde, in fact I didn't just not like it, I actually hated it. A lot! I found it painful to even make it through the 22 minutes of television.

Ant's Recommendation: As you can imagine, I can't recommend this show.

Detroit 1-8-7 - ABC - 9.75 Million Viewers

The more I think about this one the more I like it (Another phrase you'll hear a lot in this post) It really doesn't bring anything new to the cop show table, but I really like the cast that they've assembled here. It was nice to see another city on television since crime doesn't just happen in New York, Los Angeles or Miami.

Ant's Recommendation: Give it another week, you've still got Parenthood to fall back on if this turns bad.

My revised Tuesday night schedule:

8:00 - Glee
9:00 - Raising Hope
10:00 Detroit 1-8-7, Parenthood, Sons of Anarchy

Wednesday:

Undercovers - NBC - 8.57 Million Viewers

A new JJ Abrams series, this episode directed and written by Abrams. I didn't like this one as much as I had hoped I would have. I'm not buying the main character as a CIA spy and that's a huge problem for me. I wasn't really able to wrap my head around that fact. The story was ok. Abrams name I think will carry this one to finish the first season.

Ant's Recommendation: Give it another week.

Better With You - ABC - 7.97 Million Viewers

I didn't really dig this one. I only laughed a few times. In fact I really can't think of anything to write about this one. I would imagine since it's in between The Middle and Modern Family it might last longer then it really should. Speaking of Modern Family, they played with the formula and re-cast it and called it Better With You, except the actors aren't as funny.

Ant's Recommendation: Going to give this one a pass.

The Defenders - CBS - 12.09 Million Viewers

I have to admit that when I hit play on this one I went in wanting to hate this and tear it apart. Sadly I enjoyed it more then I thought I would. See, there it is again. Belushi and O'Connell really pull of the slimy Las Vegas lawyers and then it turns at the end they do seem to care about the client. Doesn't really bring anything new to the Law Show table, unlike the other lawyer show in this time slot.

Ant's Recommendation: Give it another week.

The Whole Truth - ABC - 4.91 Viewers

I really enjoyed this one, a lot. I really enjoyed seeing both sides of the case as they prepared for trial and seeing them react to the twists and turns of the trial. Then the little twist at the end; loved it. It's got two TV Vets in it and I really like them both.

Ant's Recommendation: Judging by the number of people that watched this, doesn't look like it'll be on long.

Revised Wednesday scheduled:

8:00 Survivor, Undercovers
9:00 Hellcats, Modern Family
9:30 Cougar Town
10:00 The Whole Truth, The Defenders, Terriers

Sadly I'm only half way through the week and I've only dropped four shows, this isn't looking good for me. I'm dropping two maybe three on Thursday so hopefully that helps me. My goal here is to get down to 30, then maybe after another week of viewing I can lower even more.

Let's get to Thursday:

My Generation - ABC - 5.22 Million Viewers

Critics hated this and judging by the number of people that watched this on Thursday; people didn't like it either. I on the other hand really liked it, correction; I really liked the concept. My big issue with this is they're focusing on the drama that's being created in the right now, I would like it more to see what's happened to them over the last 10 years to make them the person they are today.

Ant's Recommendation: 8:00 PM on Thursday's is jammed and I don't think this one is going to make it. Bones, Big Bang Theory, Vampire Diaries, Community. Generation is going to get slaughtered by huge competition by every other network with their already established shows.

S#*! My Dad Says - CBS - 12.48 Million Viewers

Before I start I must say I love the twitter account that started all this, that being said, that twitter feed shouldn't be the script of the show. They totally wrote the script around the 140 character tweets that got the hype started. But it just doesn't work. I don't like Shatner in this, the Mad TV vets Sasso and Sullivan were pretty awful in this. The lead character in this is also pretty bad in this as well. The best part of the episode was when Henry did a Shatner impression and Shatner replies, No one can do a good impression of me. That actually got me laughing out loud and they may have been the only time.

Ant's Recommendation: Drop it and watch 30 Rock in the 8:30 timeslot instead of this bad attempt at humor.

Outsourced - NBC - 7.44 Million Viewers

Didn't like anything about this one either. I may have laughed twice and at times I found it to be offensive. I really have nothing else to add.

Ant's Recommendation: Drop.

My revised Thursday Schedule:

8:00 Vampire Diaries, Big Bang Theory, Community
8:30 30 Rock
9:00 CSI, The Office, Nikita
10:00 I use 10 to catch up with the pvr'd comedies.

Friday:

Blue Bloods - CBS - 12.81 Million Viewers

The more I thought about this one, the more I like it. It's got the cop side and the legal side, then they meet for Sunday dinners around the dining room table and argue about their sides. Plus you've got a very mysterious back story/conspiracy thing going on. I can't possibly imagine the effects the war is having on families in America, but why does everyone that's got some sort of anger/mental issue have to be a war vet? Why can't Wahlberg just have issues because his brother was killed in the line of duty for the NYPD?

Ant's recommendation: Watch this, it'll be tough for a new show to survive on Friday nights, but I think this one is worth saving.

That's all I really watch on Friday's, most of the stuff I catch on Friday is catch up from the crazy week that was.

Well, those are my opinions on what we've been shown already. That's why you came here and that's why people asked me to put the blog together. I cut my viewing down a bit, as a tv viewer these days are very nerve racking as you don't want to commit to anything too early, but if you don't commit the network yanks the show anyways. It's really a no win situation for us.

First look at John Stamos' appearance on Glee

It's a busy night in the media room tonight, juicy tidbits all over the place and I haven't even started to compile the rest of the news of the day; including a leaked Survivor call sheet from very late in the game.  Details on that to follow later tonight, hopefully.

Here's the video:

Seasme Street Video's from this week...

Sesame Street has had a busy week this week and not necessarily for good reasons.  The decided to pull the Katy Perry video after parents groups complained about the amount of cleavage Katy was showing during the bit with Elmo.  Check out the video and judge for yourself.

Since the video was released on youtube and got all the attention Elmo came on Good Morning America to speak out about the entire situation.

Sesame Street also was in the news this week because they did a wonderful parody of HBO's True Blood.

What's Playing in the media room - September 24th

Friday night is here, thank god as it's been one long week. The PVR is at 89 percent capacity and is in some desperate need of clearing. Tonight's weather isn't looking so good so I think I'm going to take the time to layout on the couch and enjoy some great programming. Networks this year have actually decided to put some shows on Friday nights, a few new ones as well; hopefully they don't freak out if they don't score major ratings on a Friday night. Enjoy your night no matter how you decide to unwind from a busy week.

Smallville - 8:00 - The CW - Season 10 Episode 1

Episode Title: Lazarus

Lois saves Clark’s life by removing the blue kryptonite dagger. Chloe hunts for Oliver while Tess finds herself in a LuthorCorp lab. And Jonathan returns to the farm with a message for Clark. Zod poses as the Blur to deceive Los into finding the Book of Rao. Meanwhile, Tess clings to life after attacking Zod, Oliver is MIA when an unseen opponent launches their own attack.

Medium - 8:00 - CBS - Season 7 Episode 1

Episode Title: Bring Your Daughter to Work Day

Allison and Bridgette share the same dream, which revolves around a missing homeless man. Before long, mother and daughter swap personalities, giving rise to various complications at home, at school and at work.

Supernatural - 9:00 - The CW - Season 6 Episode 1

Episode Title: Exile on Main Street

Sam is mysteriously released from hell and tries to convince Dean to rejoin him in fighting evil. To help persuade him, Sam introduces Dean to a new family led by their grandfather Samuel (Mitch Pileggi).

The Good Guys - 9:00 PM - Fox - Season 1 Episode 10

Episode Title: Vacation

Jack and Dan are suspended for their carelessness, so Dan funds an off-the-books sting operation with money he “borrowed” from the Narcotics Division, which inadvertently finances a jailbreak that Dan and Jack must stop. The guys must capture the prisoners before they get too far and before people find out what's happened.

Funny this is titled vacation as this hasn't been on in almost a month and a half. I started to watch this when it started in May but I found the formula of the show got old very quickly. I've heard that they've made changes, here's hoping mixing that up a bit is one of them.

CSI:New York - 9:00 - CBS - Season 7 Episode 1

Episode Title: The 34th Floor

New CSI team member Jo Danville (Sela Ward) stumbles upon the body of a young woman who was murdered on the 34th floor of the New York crime-lab.

Blue Bloods - 10:00 - CBS - Season 1 Episode 1

New Show!

Episode Title: Pilot

In the pilot of Blue Bloods we are introduced to a new kind of crime family. A New York crime drama focusing on a multigenerational family of cops headed by the city’s police commissioner (Tom Selleck). In the opener, the youngest son graduates from the police academy. Meanwhile, his older brother investigates a girl’s kidnapping and is accused of using excessive force to solve the case.

Everything about this show tells me it should be good, but everything I've read from the critics and around the net tells me the opposite.

Outlaw - 10:00 - NBC - Season 1 Episode 2

Episode Title: In Re: Officer Daniel Hale

Garza and his team head to Arizona when an immigration dispute results in a police officer being shot. While Eddie agrees with taking the case, Al wonders why he joined Garza’s team. Lucinda encourages Mereta to make her big move for Garza.

Watched the pilot of this last week and I really enjoyed it. Quirky take on the legal drama, let's see if they keep it up in this episode. Friday nights at 10:00

Haven - 10:00 pm - Syfy - Season 1 Episode 11

Episode Title: The Trial of Audrey Parker

Agent Howard visits Haven to question Audrey about her strange behavior as a local policewoman, but the interrogation is derailed when two of the town’s criminals hijack Duke’s boat with Howard, Audrey and Duke aboard.

What else is on: The Soup, Global is airing the first episode of 90210 if you don't have access to the CW. Doesn't look like there is an episode of Flashpoint.

What will I be watching tonight? Medium, The Good Guys, Bluebloods and Outlaw.

I've got to clear some room off the pvr tonight before all this starts as it's about to bust open.

Enjoy your night and enjoy the weekend because it starts all over again sunday when Dexter starts and another episode of Boardwalk Empire airs!!

Daily TV News - September 23rd 2010

Good afternoon fellow tv viewers...here's you wrap up of the days events...didn't post anything yesterday because other then the American Idol news I didn't really think there was much to pass on...

On Tuesday night twitter and the rest of the Internet went wild with rumors that Lone Star was going to be cancelled before it even got to episode 2. Fox has come out and said hold your horses, they've got confidence in the show and it's not being cancelled, yet. As a viewer it certainly doesn't fill me with confidence for this shows future and I wonder why anyone would keep investing their time on a swamped Monday at 9:00 with this show if it's on it's last legs already. Critics loved the show before it aired and they praised it because it was a good show that was different. TV people are now worried because audiences often complain there is too much of the same thing on tv, reality, cop and legal shows. We the viewer get offered something else and we turn around and don't watch it because it's different. I'll be watching Lone Star on the weekend to see what the original hype was all about.

Fame star Debbie Allen has been slated to direct an upcoming episode of Hellcats, so does that mean we'll get strong cheering performances and nothing else? We'll have to wait and find out.

Jorge Garcia aka Hurley from Lost has signed up for his next television series, he'll be joining Matthew Perry's mid season replacement Mr. Sunshine.

I freaked out a couple days ago with the news that one of my favorites J.J. Abrams is putting together a show specifically for Michael Emerson (Ben Linus) and Terry O'Quinn (John Locke). Well today comes news that said show will be picked up by NBC for I'm assuming next year's fall lineup. I don't think they can get it all setup quick enough to come out this winter as a mid season replacement.

Bravo, the network that airs Top Chef is working on all stars edition starring former contestants. It will begin December 1st and former guest judge Anthony Bourdain will now be a full-time judge.

There are a lot of rumors flying around the set of Dancing With The Stars right now that both "The Situation" and Bristol Palin are interested in each. Both sides reps denies the rumors. What a brilliant pairing that'll be.

Apparently Katy Perry showed a wee bit too much skin and cleavage in Sesame Street for some parents groups liking and they've petitioned Sesame Street to drop the clip, they have.

Big Bang Theory have signed another nerd favorite to guest star in an upcoming episode. Buffy and Dollhouse star Eliza Dushku has agreed to play a FBI agent questioning the gang in regards to Wolowitz as he's applying for Secret clearance.

We've got a couple from the department of "Oh, thanks for sharing your opinion on something even though we don't care or didn't ask" Judge Judy has come out and said that Lindsey Lohan needs to go back to jail and get a dose of some reality. Adam Lambert has come out and said he approves the new American Idol judges. Whew, thanks Adam.

Teri Hatcher it was announced this afternoon has signed on to a role for this seasons Smallville. She'll be playing Lois Lane's mom! Kind of funny that she got her rise to fame by playing Lois in 1993's Lois and Clark.

Here's the first look at the return of Carter Hall in Smallville later this season.

Jason Wiles fresh from some summer work on Persons Unknown has signed on to a guest role in Law and Order:SVU

The writer of the 1990 mega hit Goodfellas is working on a treatment for Goodfellas: The tv series. As much as I love the movie, I really can't see how this could possibly even work. HBO already did the gangster thing, they're doing it again but in a much different time. I don't think they need a 80's version. The only way this could possibly work is by being on a cable network. Even then.

Fans who loved Charice's appearance in Tuesday's Glee, don't worry, she'll be back sometime around January when sectionals take place.

A couple of pieces for Monday's shows. Cuddy tries anyway she can to prove to Wilson that she is indeed dating House. Thank god, I didn't like that stunt she pulled by hiding in the closet when Wilson was there. In Monday's the Event a rather pivotal character from the premiere will be murdered. Someone else is not who he/she claims to be. Plus we'll find out why Scott Peterson was piloting the plane. I'm guessing they'll be lots of people pretending to be people on that show. Like EVERYONE. I really need to re-watch the pilot of The Event just to try and sort out the timing of it all.

That's all I've got for today.

What's playing in the media room - September 23rd

Fairly slow night in my media room last night, had to go to bed early as this week is leaving me exhausted. Going into tonight the pvr is 75 percent full and that isn't good as tonight is a very heavy night. I'm hoping to get home at a decent hour and clear some room before stuff starts recording.

Let's take a look at what we've got for tonight...

My Generation - 8:00 - ABC - Season 1 Episode 1

New Show!

Episode Title: Pilot

A documentary crew documents the lives of members of a Texas high school class 10 years after graduation; overachiever Steven returns home after learning he has a 9-year-old son with a former classmate.

I'm certainly intrigued by this one but like a few shows this year, I'm just not sure how long it could last. How much material can they really have?

The Big Bang Theory - 8:00 - CBS - Season 4 Episode 1

Episode Title: The Robotic Manipulation

In the fourth-season opener, Sheldon goes on a date with Amy Fowler—-his first date ever—and Penny finds herself accompanying them.

Oh baby! I sooo can't wait for this one to begin.

Community - 8:00 - NBC - Season 2 Episode 1

Episode Title: Anthropology 101

As the new semester begins, the study group gathers to tackle Anthropology 101; Jeff struggles to establish decorum with Britta and Annie; Senor Chang decides to enroll as a student so he can join the study group.

Another oh baby! This show doesn't get enough attention as it's one of the funniest shows on television. Even if that funny isn't consistent.

Bones - 8:00 - Fox - Season 6 Episode 1

Episode Title: The Mastodon in the Room

Season 6 begins seven months after the Jeffersonian team went its separate ways, but they’re summoned back to Washington, D.C., by Caroline Julian when a case involving the body of an unidentified young boy could cost Cam her job.

Don't watch Bones so I really can't comment too much, or at all on that one.

The Vampire Diaries - 8 - The CW - Season 2 Episode 3

Episode Title: Bad Moon Rising

Elena, Damon and Alaric travel to Duke University to find Isobel’s research on folklore and the paranormal, they look for clues to the mystery surrounding the Lockwood family; Stefan faces a new danger in the woods; Tyler makes a shocking discovery about his Uncle Mason. Vanessa a former student of Isobels helps them sort through the research and ends up learning more than she had anticipated.

This show since the midway point of last season just keeps getting better every episode.

$#*! My Dad Says - 8:30 - CBS - Season 1 Episode 1

New Show!

Episode Title: Pilot

The premiere of the sitcom based on Justin Halpern’s popular Twitter feed about the outrageous observations of his politically incorrect father. In the opener, the grumpy dad (William Shatner) invites his son (Jonathan Sadowski) to move back home after the young man loses his job as a writer for a men’s magazine.

One of the most talked about shows this fall, unfortunately it's not always for good reason. Not supposed to last long.

30 Rock - 8:30 - NBC - Season 5 Episode 1

Episode Title: The Fabian Strategy

Season 5 opens with Jack interfering with Liz’s blooming romance with Carol (Matt Damon) in an effort to help her finally win a man’s heart. There’s give-and-take in Jack’s own love life when Avery revamps his apartment. Meanwhile, Tracy copes with Kenneth’s termination as NBC page. Jenna becomes a producer of The Girl Show.

One of the highest rated shows on television is back for another season of pure comedic genius.

The Office - 9:00 - NBC - Season 7 Episode

Episode Title: Nepotism

Season 7 begins with Michael hiring a new office assistant (Evan Peters), whose bad attitude rubs the staffers the wrong way. Meanwhile, Erin flirts with someone other than Andy, and Pam tries to show Jim she has a playful side by pulling an office prank.

Big news of the summer was that Steve Carrel was leaving after this season. He wasn't in it much last season and I found the season was very up and down. It isn't looking good for the series continuing past season 8.

Grey’s Anatomy - 9:00 - ABC - Season 7 Episode 1

Episode Title: With You I’m Born Again

In the wake of of the shooting at Seattle Grace Mercy Trauma counselor Andrew Perkins (James Tupper) is brought in to help staffers cope and to assess their fitness to return to work. Meanwhile, Derek resigns as chief and rushes back into surgery. Someone plans a wedding.

Nikita - 9:00 - The CW - Season 1 Episode 3

Episode Title: Kill Jill

Nikita rescues a journalist who is in danger trying to expose a conspiracy; Michael and Percy suspect Birkhoff is helping Nikita. Jaden, Alex and Thom help Michael find his latest target.

Watched this again last week, it's enjoyable fun that's entertaining. The conspiracy doesn't seem big enough to force Nikita to destroy it yet. They must have done some really bad stuff that they aren't telling us yet.

CSI - 9:00 - CBS - Season 11 Episode 1

Episode Title: Shock Waves

As Langston fights to survive after being attacked by nut job Nate Haskell, the rest of the team attends the funeral of an officer, which turns out deadly.

I'm losing interest in this one fast. Hopefully they can turn it around, doesn't help I don't like Fishburne in this role.

Fringe - 9:00 - Fox - Season 3 Episode 1

Episode Title: Olivia

Olivia struggles to free herself from "the other side", while her auburn-haired counterpart works alongside the oblivious Peter and Walter. Waltertries to reconcile with Peter, but they are both unaware that the Olivia with them isn't the real one.

Project Runway - 9:00 - Bravo

Episode Title: Race to the Finish

The designers are tasked with creating a high-fashion look, and there’s a hefty reward at stake. Will there designs be enough to keep the around to design another day.

Thrilling stuff there.

Outsourced - 9:30 - NBC - Season 1 Episode 1

New Show! Pilot

American Todd Dempsy moves to India to head up a call center for a novelties company in the premiere of this comedy series. After meeting his eccentric employees, Todd realizes he has to teach them about American culture in order to help them sell the humorous products from the company’s catalog.

I don't know what NBC was thinking when they brought this show to the schedule.

Private Practice - 10:00 - ABC - Season 4 Episode 1

Episode Title: Take Two

As the doctors mourn Dell in the fourth-season opener, Violet and Pete anxiously prepare for their wedding day —perhaps too anxiously. Meanwhile, Naomi must care for both Maya and Maya’s baby. She also worries about Dink’s parenting skills. And things take a surprising turn for Addison and Sam.

The Mentalist - 10:00 - CBS - Season 3 Episode 1

Episode Title Red Sky at Night

The CBI is tasked with finding a prominent lawyer who was kidnapped, but Jane questions his future with the team following his encounter with Red John. The team looks into two high profile kidnappings.

The Apprentice - 10:00 - NBC - Season 10 Episode 2

Episode Title: Ice Cream

When the teams are asked to sell ice cream on the streets of New York, one team sabotages the other; a project manager attacks a member of the team.

Judging by the ratings last week it would appear that I'm not the only one tired of this show. I gotta think this will be the last season.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia - 10:00 - FX Network - Season 6 Episode 2

Episode Title: Dennis Gets Divored

Dennis comes to the realization that marriage is not how he imagined it to be and he wants out.

I really need to catch up on this one. I've only watched 3 episodes.

The League - 10:30 - FX Network - Season 2 Episode 2

Episode Title: Bro-Lo El Cunado

The married guys atone for Vegas; an adult weekend for Kevin and Jenny; a terrific lady day for Ruxin and Sofia; The League is plagued by Rafi, Ruxin’s brother-in-law.

Well that's all I've got for you tonight and it's a doozy.

What i'll be watching tonight: Big Bang Theory, Community, 30 Rock, Vampire Diaries, CSI, The Office, Nikita. Plus I"ll check out the pilots for My Generation, Bleep and Outsourced just to say I've seen them and see what they're all about.

What's playing in the media room - September 22nd 2010

Lots of great stuff tonight to watch, better then last night in my opinion. Plus we've got the premieres of 4 new shows. Let's jump right in and see what we've got.

The Middle - 8:00 PM - ABC - Season 2 Episode 1

Episode Title: Back To School

In the season 2 premiere, Frankie has a hard time getting the kids ready for school and she's accused of being overprotective by Brick's new teacher (Doris Roberts). Meanwhile Sue may be too enthusiastic about being on the cross country team.

I don't watch this one, but I like the Everybody Loves Raymond reunion with Doris Roberts.

Survivor: Nicaragua - 8:00 PM - CBS - Season 21 Episode 2

Episode Title: Fatigue Makes Cowards of Us All

Tempers flare and fights erupt in the La Flor tribe as the younger castaways struggle to overcome potentially dangerous personality conflicts with the group.

Draaaama, love it! I bet it's the douche bag from last week I hated is in the middle of all this. Who knew Survivor had episode titles?

America's Next Top Model - 8:00 PM - The CW - Season 15 Episode 3

Episode Title: Patricia Field

Fashion designer Patricia Field is the guest judge. The girls get a surprise makeover and pose as fallen angels at a photo shoot and another model is eliminated from the competition.

Posing as fallen angels?? I can't miss that! As you can tell, I don't watch this and every time I see that it's in its 15 season I just shake my head.

Hell's Kitchen - 8:00 PM - Fox - Season 8 Episode 1

Episode Title:16 Chefs Compete

16 chefs compete for a head chef job at an L.A. hotel restaurant and the post of spokesperson for a winery. First, they must prepare their signature dishes. A lesson in preparing sushi from Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto before they must do it for themselves.

New Show!

Episode Title: Pilot

Married former spies Steven and Samantha Bloom re-enter the world of espionage to track down a friend and fellow agent who disappeared while on the trail of an arms dealer.

Abrams is behind this, so I'll be checking it out.

Better With You - 8:30 PM - ABC - Season 1 Episode One

New Show!

Episode Title: Pilot

A sitcom about the relationships among three couples from one family. In the premiere Maddie is distressed to learn her younger sister, Mia is engaged to a guy she's only known for a short time. The siblings' parents are overjoyed with the news.

It's got the mom from 70's show in it and I loved her in that show. Buuuut it does seem to being using the Modern Family formula. We'll see.

Modern Family - 9:00 PM - ABC - Season 2 Episode 1

Episode Title: The Old Wagon

Phil reluctantly agrees to get rid of the Dunphy station wagon, which prompts a wave of nostalgia for the old car. Cameron enlists Jay's help when Mitchell tries to build a princess castle for Lily. Manny asks a girl to come over and study.

All I can say is, I CAN'T WAIT!

Hellcats - 9:00 PM - The CW - Season 1 Episode 3

Episode Title: Beale St. After Dark

The Hellcats accompany Savannah on her first date with Dan. Marti tries to impress her law professor in hopes of joining his legal team. Alice turns to pills and Vanessa comes clean with Derrick.

The second episode was much better then the first and I"ll watch this one as well, the thing about shows like this is: I can't see them being on the air more then one year. How much material can they have to keep this going?

Law and Order: SVU - 9:00 PM 2 Hours, 2 Episodes - NBC - Season 12 Episodes 1 and 2

Episode Title: Locum

Benson and Stabler are pulled between suspects when they are called to the last known sighting of a missing 10-year-old girl by her adoptive parents. Then as the investigation progresses, a mystery from the parents' past is revealed and suddenly all bets are off.

Episode Title: Bullseye

The rape of a 10-year-old girl is so brutal it leaves her unable to recall even her own name. Unfortunately once Fin assists with the id, the detectives find she's not the only one with memory impairment. Dr. Huang is brought in to assess her home situation. The case becomes even more complicated when Erik Weber reappears and inserts himself where he doesn't belong, even though he might be their only lead.

Cougar Town - 9:30 PM - ABC - Season 2 Episode 1

Episode Title: All Mixed Up

In the second season premiere Jules finds the bond with her new psychiatrist (a certain someone from a little show called Friends) tested when she learns the truth behind her treatment methods. Meanwhile Bobby struggles to face the fact that Jules and Grayson are a couple. Ellie is envious of Jules' relationship with her doctor.

I love how shows bring in all the gimmicks for the premiere episodes!

Terriers - 10:00 PM - FX Network - Season 1 Episode 3

Episode Title: Change Partners

To secure a loan, Hank must prove that the bank manager's wife is cheating on him but what he finds is much more kinkier then infidelity.

Last weeks was much better then the first episode so I'll give this another try, I'm really digging the dynamic between the two main characters.

The Whole Truth - 10:00 PM - NBC - Season 1 Episode 1

New Show!

Episode Title:Pilot

A legal drama that follow cases from both sides starring Maura Tierney as prosecutor Kathryn Peale and Rob Morrow as defense lawyer Jimmy Brogan who is her friend and law school classmate. In this premiere a high school teacher is charged with killing a student with whom he had been in frequent contact. In fact, Peale clams he was actually stalking her. But she's worried that Brogan knows something she doesn't.

I'm hearing that this is a cool concept, but this isn't a great show. Two very good television actors in this one. How could you not give it a watch?

The Defenders - 10:00 PM - CBS - Season 1 Episode 1

New Show!

Episode Title: Pilot

Two charismatic defense lawyers, Nick and Pete represent a variety of clients in Las Vegas. In this opening episode they guy defend a young man accused of murder who rejects a lenient plea bargain in order to face a jury. The firm's newest associate, a former exotic dancer beings work and represents a teen accused of kidnapping. Starring tv vets Jim Belushi and Jerry O' Connell.

Does this sound totally silly to anyone else?

That's all I've got for tonight. What will you be watching?

Tonight in my house we've got: Survivor, Better With You, Undercovers, Modern Family, Cougar Town, Criminal Minds, Hellcats and I'll check out The Whole Truth and The Defenders just to see what they're about. Ugh, I've got to clear some room on the pvr.
