Daily TV News - September 20th 2010

Here I sit in my media room, getting ready to watch Boardwalk Empire from last night so I can let my PVR queue up some shows and I can watch them without the commercials. I've done this a few times ;)

I've scoured the Internet today reading the tv news and put together some more of the interesting pieces for your reading.

Joe Jonas fresh off acting in an episode of Hot in Cleveland is set to join the gang in the most famous zip code in the world for an episode in November.

Rescue Me's Callie Thorne is set to star in USA Network's Necessary Roughness. Callie will play a pro sports therapist. Don't worry Rescue Me fans, Sheila isn't going anywhere. When they filmed this past season they also filmed next season as well.

24 producers have moved on to something way out of their element. They're working on a drama for Showtime called Homeland. The show is about a U.S. solider after a long time locked up as a P.O.W. It's described as a "conspiracy thriller drama" Hmmm, sounds a bit like another show that was on last year and shown in real time?

As many of you saw many months ago when Joaqin Phoenix appeared on an episode of The Late Show with some very strange behavior. This kicked off the craziness that was the marketing of Joaqin's latest movie which just aired at TIFF last week. Much like the movie, the appearance was a hoax and Letterman was in on it all. He loved the idea and totally added to the drama.

Here's a pic of Jennifer Aniston in an upcoming episode of Cougar Town.

One of the bigger stories of the day was word that super producer JJ Abrams was in talks and has begun developing a series starring none other then former Losties Ben Linus and John Locke. The series code name "odd jobs" at the moment and is described as a comedic drama. As long as Michael Emerson is as creepy as he was in seasons 2 and 3 of Lost that's all that matters.

NBC announced two more hosts of Saturday Night Live for this season. Jon Hamm, October 30th and Emma Stone October 23rd. Previously announced guests include, Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, October 2nd, Parks and Recreation's Amy Poehler, September 25th and Glee's Jane Lynch, October 9th.

Another large story of the day was the show runners of NBC's Community announced that they've got special planned for this years Christmas Episode. Word has it that they are filming a stop motion claymation ala Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer look and feel. Can't wait to see what they come up with. Not sure how many people here saw the paintball episode last year, but it was fantastic.

The strange news of the day goes to ABC as they've announced that they have begun work on, get ready for it. True Lies: The Tv Series. You remember the pretty good Arnie from almost 20 years ago. Ya, tv show. Should be greeaaattt..

In Glee casting news Gwyneth Paltrow has signed on to do an episode as a substitute teacher and she'll be "linked" to Mr Schuester.

Bachelor fans note, ABC is in serious talks with two potential Bachelor candidates. People is reporting that the next bachelor will either be, Chris Lambton or Ty Brown, names don't mean anything to me as I don't the show.

Katie Couric has revealed that her fantasy is to appear on Dancing With the Stars. Right. She seems a bit too famous for the good reasons for this show.

The producers of How I Met Your Mother have come to realize the mistakes they made last season and they're bound to correct them. Here are some quotes from Carter Bays, producer.

"Honestly, I never say stuff like this, but I think this is will be our best season yet," Bays tells TVGuide.com. "I'm going to call my shot and say that. At the end of last season, I think we were all feeling really old, and there's been kind of a rejuvenation around here. I think a lot of it has to do with the stories of the season."

"Season 2 is my favorite and we're going back to what we love about that," Bays says. "Our goal is to do both, where you can come in at any moment, and luckily, there are no hatches or Smoke Monsters, so it's pretty easy. While it was fun doing the stand-alones, there's a bit of amnesia every week. You keep hitting the reset button. This year, we won't do that as much. If you only see one episode, it'll be funny and you'll totally enjoy it, but if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded for it."

And my last piece of news from the day is a small picture of Cameron's mother from the mega hit Modern Family.

That's all I've got, enjoy your first night of Premiere Week; it'll be a busy one.
