Daily News - October 16th 2010

Movie News:

Earlier this week I blogged about the new Eric Stoltz footage from Back to the Future. Today I've actually got a picture of the family photo you remember from the first BTTF film, but it's actually got Stoltz in it instead of Fox. Very cool picture indeed.

Lost co-writer Damon Lindelof has written a script for an Alien prequel and Fox is loving it, Natalie Portman is on the top of their list to star. Lindelof is everywhere these days, I'm not sure if you've ever watched a Lindelof interview, but you should really look him up on You Tube because he's a hilarious, his Comic Con Lost panels are amazingly funny.

Check out this interview between Zach Galifinakis and Bruce Willis, it's AWESOME!!

Inception and Batman director Chris Nolan signed Inception's Tom Hardy to a lead role in Batman 3, rumors are flying around the internet that he might play either The Riddler or Killer Croc. Rumors of The Riddler being in Batman 3 have been around since The Dark Knight opened.

It would appear that almost everyone will be back to star in Hangover 2, except one player from the first film. That would be Heather Graham, a studio rep said there isn't really any room for Heather Graham in this story. From what I've read, the boys are heading to Bangkok so it really doesn't make any sense that Graham's character would be there.

Amy Adams is very close to signing a deal to star in Disney's upcoming Muppets movie written by How I Met Your Mother Star Jason Segel. The film is due Christmas 2011.

A very large story hit Twitter this afternoon and within 10 minutes I must have seen 40 tweets about it. The Hobbit has been in development hell for months if not longer. Del Toro quit over rumblings about 3D apparently. Fans cried to get Peter Jackson involved, rumors hit that Jackson was indeed directing. Then last week he reminded people that a) He wasn't sure he would actually direct the Lord Of The Rings prequel b) The movie actually hadn't been GREENLIT! Well, fellow nerds, you can relax, it was announced today that Jackson is indeed directing the film and the movie has been greenlit and production will start once they can figure out this labour issue with New Zealand. Yikes. The Hobbit will be told in two movies and I believe the first film was due in 2012, but who knows at this point.

One of the biggest hits out the Toronto Film Festival this year was Natalie Portman's Black Swan, I posted the first trailer a few weeks back in the trailer watch post. It looks fantastic, today the studio released the International posters and they look equally fantastical. Very old Hollywood. Enjoy.

Any Justin Bieber fans out there? Didn't think so. Apparenly there is an upcoming 3D Bieber flick coming, today it got a title. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.

Neil Patrick Harris who's enjoying a massive comeback the last few years is now getting into directing. He's signed on to do the romantic comedy "Aaron and Sarah" starring Emma Roberts and Josh Hutcherson.

It was earlier this week or late last week it was announced that Warner Brothers wasn't going to have the first Harry Potter Deathly Hallows movie in 3D. They are still working on converting the movies to 3D for the Bluray release, along with previous three movies.

Two films I'm very surpised to read they're making: Journey To The Centre of The Earth 2 and Chipmunks 3. Really? Do we need those. Like, really.

Enjoy the first poster for Seth Rogan's upcoming Green Hornet flick. Love Seth Rogan, I do. But I really don't know about this movie.

You may have heard in the last few days about the outrage Vince Vaughns latest trailer has caused. Here's the trailer that started it all.

TV News

V is set to return January 4th at 9:00 PM.

Prison Break fans, or should I say Wentworth Miller fans might be happy to know that he's expressed some interest in taking over the lead role in Spartacus since they lead actor had to step aside because he's been diagnosed with Cancer.

ABC has decided to move No Ordinary Family to 9:00 PM in late November trying to give it a decent lead-in. What's the lead in? Why it's going to be the mega-hit Skating With The Stars. I kid you not.

Summer favorite Wipeout set to premiere in January, ABC is hurting with so many of their new shows not exactly getting the best ratings so far early in this fall season.

CBS must be pleased with How I Met Your Mother because they've ordered 2 more episode. The producers really hyped up this season, they said they realized their mistakes from last season. From what I've seen so far this season, it's more of the same, very insconsistant episodes. Some weeks it's the funniest thing on tv, the next week it's a struggle to get through all 30 minutes.

A huge story broke a couple days ago that the Lost guys are working on "secret" ABC Pilot. A couple of producers from Lost are putting together a series for ABC, if the series gets the green light, Damon Lindlelof will serve as a consultant for the show. I later then read on Newsarama that the comic nerds thinks it might be an adaptation of the Comic Book Series Fables. ABC has been working on trying to get Fables off the ground for years and apparently a few of the Lost boys have development deals with ABC. A brief description was found out apparently and does seem very much like Fables. Only time will tell on this one. After reading comments on a few sites about this story, Lost fans are still VERY BITTER on how Lost ended. It's over, move on with your life.

E! announced that they'll be premiering Married to Rock, November 7th at 10:30. The series will follow Susan Holmes McKagan, married to former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan, who joined and left Jane's Addiction this year; Etty Farrell, whose husband is Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell; Josie Stevens, a model married to Billy Idol's longtime guitarist Steve Stevens; and AJ Celi, who has been in a relationship with guitarist Billy Duffy of the Cult for the past three years.

Samuel Jackson is developing a crime drama for The CW, "Hacksaw" will have a twenty-something man who thinks he's a relation to Sherlock Holmes. He sees a psychiatrist who has a sister who's a cop and thinks he can help solve crimes.  Ya, it doesn't sound very good to me either.

Robert De Niro is producing a crime drama for CBS titled, Rookies. The story will be around young police officers that are thrown into high-crime areas of I'm assuming New York.

TBS is working on bringing a celebrity karaoke show on the air based on a Funny Or Die video. Sounds thrilling.

The mega-hit How to Train Your Dragon is about to become a cartoon series for the Cartoon Network. When I say about to become, I mean: It's due to hit the air in 2012.

Would you believe that teen show iCarly got 7 million viewers on Monday evening. Me either, but that's the number that Nickelodeon is selling.

Some updates from Ask Ausiello: A "significant" break coming on House, a possible wedding on a Christmas episode of Glee, Puck will miss one more episode of Glee but will be back in November. I seem to remember reading somewhere, I can't remember where now, I scan about 40 pop culture sites all day, anyway, I do recall reading that Puck was off promoting his first solo record and that's why he hasn't been on Glee.

Disney owns ABC, Disney also owns Marvel, so that means we should be expecting to see some of Marvels greatest heroes on the small screen the next few years. Potentially first up is none other then the green giant Hulk himself.

Apparently ABC and Marvel are also tossing around ideas for a Punisher series. Now, I'm guessing most people reading this blog haven't actually read Punisher comics, but I'm sure you've seen at least one of the three Punisher movies. I'm sure you'll agree with me on this, how the hell is ABC going to do a primetime series starring The Punisher??

Because The View needed some competition, CBS has put together it's own version of the view called, "The Talk" starring Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Marissa Jaret Winokur. Today is was announced who their first week of guests would be. Model Christie Brinkley on Monday, Jennifer Lopez on Tuesday, Melissa Rycroft and former South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford on Wednesday, actress Chandra Wilson on Thursday and Jamie Lee Curtis, Rick Fox and professional dancer Cheryl Burke on Friday.

CBS once again has purchased a blog for development, this one called Dear Girls Above Me. It was sold to them via Ashton Kutcher, does the former King of Twitter just own all the rights to the Internet for television? The Hollywood Reporter had some samples from the blog.

Samples, each prefaced with the phrase "Dear Girls Above Me":

-- “He said he was Spanish but not a Mexican. What the hell, that doesn’t even make sense!” It does to the entire country of Spain.

-- “Aww, I felt so bad, this homeless-looking bearded guy on Fairfax actually thought it was New Years.” Happy Rosh Hashanah ladies.

-- “I want a guy who’s gonna meet me half way, like the Black Eyed Pea’s song.” I want a girl who doesn’t quote the Black Eyed Peas.

-- “You can’t go on birth control, your tits will get bigger than mine! We had a plan!” Does this plan involve small boobs and a baby?

As much as I despise this idea of making shows from twitter and blogs, those are actually pretty funny.

Did you know that Sarah Palin has a show coming soon to TLC? If you didn't I bet you wish you didn't just read that. The show is set to air November 14th at 9:00 PM. Here's the trailer for those that enjoy watching Train Wreck television.

I've got more, but at this point my head is going to explode with all the stuff I've read the last few days.  I've got two Twitter accounts going and between the two of them I follow close to 800 people.  It truly is a gold mine for pop culture related stuff.  Stuff comes by so fast it just gets impossible to keep track of it.  It's truly one of the best and worst things I've ever seen.  Information just moves so quickly now, it's almost impossible to keep up.
