I'm at training this week on a Windows 7 course and props to the training company for allowing us to have internet access on our workstations. Not that I'm saying I had a page open on twitter all day, I only opened it around lunch time when we realized we actually were able to access the net. At that point twitter had already exploded with the news that Terriers had been canceled by FX. Can't say I'm surprised but I am disappointed. I've tried to sell this one to others I know, but they really didn't have any interest. I knew once they started it they would have enjoyed it, I guess the show just wasn't sellable. To my friends or the rest of America apparently.
The head of FX held a conference call once the announcment was made, apparently this is quite unusual. I guess he knew there weren't too many Terriers fans, but one fans there were, we were loyal. THe save terriers campaign on Twitter has been going strong for weeks, many I follow as I emailed the email address to save the show. I'm off topic here, so a conference call was held and they explained the decision to cut the show. After reading the clips from that call, it really was a easy decision to make. My god the ratings were awful. They compared the ratings of Terriers to other shows from the network that got canceled and they were awful. Like a third of the viewership week to week.
I will continue to praise the FX Network for all the quality programming they do put out. Here's a list of the shows you can currently catch on FX: Sons of Anarchy, Justified, IT's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The League and Rescue Me. I just ask, when are we getting FX Canada?
That's two really good, critically acclaimed shows to go in a few weeks now, first Rubicon and now Terriers. What is wrong with the viewing public?
