Possible Batman Villain and who might be playing them...

The internet has exploded with talk about the rumor that hit the net today about a possible Batman villain. Nolan is usually very hush hush about casting rumors until it's actually fact. But it's being reporting that the next Batman film, titled: The Dark Knight Rises will have Talia Al as one of the villains and topping the list of actresses to play her is Keira Knightly and Anne Hathaway. If those are my two options at this point I'd gladly take Hathaway over Knightly. Batman isn't a period piece and that's truly what Knightly does best and tends to focus a lot of her roles on. Hathaway has really made some serious moves that last few years making some pretty good movies and I think would be a good addition to the flick.







She's come a long way from the Princess Diaries movies doing such heavy roles as The Devil Wears Prada, Brokeback Mountain, Rachel Getting Married and Alice In Wonderland. She might be a bit to "cute" to play the role of Talia Al Ghul as she while being a love interest for Bruce is also a villain to Batman. She might have that going against her.







I mentioned Keira's period pieces earlier and she normally gets large amount of praise when she does them. I only remember one movie she did that wasn't that type of movie where she got praise and that was Domino. She was pretty good in the flick and that would be great for this Batman role. I just wouldn't be able to wrap my head around her as a villain.

Some history about Talia Al Ghul for those that don't know. She's the daughter of Ra's al Ghul whom you might remember from the first Nolan Batman movie played by Liam Neelson. This is why people think that the Al Ghul rumor might be true as they think this would be a nice way to round out the trilogy. Nolan has said that this will be his last Batman movie. As I said, she's a love interest for Bruce as her father thinks he's the only man worthy of his daughter. Bruce and Talia had a son together named Damian who then went on to play Robin for a period of time in the comics. He's actually currently Robin in the DC Universe. Talia is described as an Olympic level athlete, having been trained since her birth in the many forms of martial arts and is excellent at hand to hand combat.







Also being considered for the role: Gemma Arterton, Jessica Biel, Kate Mara and Charlotte Riley who interestingly enough is engaged to actor Tom Hardy who has already signed up for a mystery role in the movie.

In reading some chatter around the net fans have also said, Olivia Wilde and Kate Beckingsale would make good picks.

If I had to have my pick, i'd still go with Hathaway at this point. She's truly the best actress of the bunch. Go with the best actress and transform them physically into the villain you want. That kinda worked out with Heath playing the Joker, just kinda ;)
