What's Playing in the Media Room - September 27th

So, about last night. That was a fun night wasn't it.

Big winner of the night last night was Modern Family with a whopping 14.20 million viewers. Hmmm, that's weird, because on Sunday night just about every person on Twitter wanted this show to burn in hell. Regardless. It wasn't a great start and I can't see myself finishing the season with this one. This is starting to get very, very predictable.

Survivor is also cracking the 10 million viewer mark with 10.15. Interesting fact, the very first season finale back in 2000 drew 51.69 MILLION US Viewers or almost 20 percent of the entire population. Scary stuff.

Also scary and not Media Room related. Since the year 2000, the population in the States has grown almost 20 million. Doesn't that seem rather quick to you? Moving along.

The X-Factor once again struggles, against it's own ego really. But still, 9.44 million. Sadly, Animal Practice which I LOVED only drew 5.18 million viewers.

Did anyone else out there watch The Neighbors? Good lord, worst show I've ever watched, in my life. I couldn't believe just how horrible it was. It got 9.27 MILLION Viewers! It almost beat X-Factor last night. If there are more than 2 million people watching Neighbors next week, I really will be stunned. STUNNED! Horrible. I couldn't stop thinking about just how awful it was all day today.

Thursday night now, one of my favorite nights on television. Geez, I've already got 4 things to watch at 8 and The Vampire Diaries hasn't even started yet. Going to be a busy night for the ol' PVR tonight.

Lots of great choices out there, so plan your night well. It's on nights like this that you really have to use those West Coast Feeds to record everything you can.

Enjoy your night.

Last Resort - 8:00 - ABC/Global - Season 1 Episode 1
Episode Title: Captain
Mysterious orders to fire nuclear weapons at a foreign country are received in the opener of this series following the crew of a U.S. submarine, who seek refuge on an exotic island after being attacked under suspicious circumstances.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I'm on board for this one. The cast looks pretty loaded up for it. The story looks like it will be very, very interesting. Plus, everyone wondered what that island from Lost was doing. Well, here it is. I think I saw a Dharma symbol, did you see the numbers? Study the screen caps. Sorry, I said Lost and went right back there. Read Zap2it's review on it here where they describe it as one of the fall season's best new shows.

Andre Braugher - Homicide: Life on the Street

Season 6 blasts off with Wolowitz in space, and despite that, he still has to intervene in an earthbound argument between his mother and Bernadette. Meanwhile, all Raj's friends are on dates, leaving him to ponder a solution to his loneliness.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Ohhhh baby! The highlight of my night and more than likely, yours as well.

SNL: Political Special - 8:00 - NBC
The "Saturday Night Live" crew lampoons politics and newsmakers.

The X-Factor - 8:00 - FOX - Season 2 Episode 6
Episode Title: Auditions #6
Auditions Continue.

Two and a Half Men - 8:30 - CBS/CTV - Season 10 Episode 1
Episode Title: I Changed My Mind About the Milk
Walden gets a hand from singer Michael Bolton in the Season 10 premiere when he makes big plans to surprise Zoey on her birthday.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Can't we just say now, this will be the last season of Two and a Half Men. CBS must be desperate to line it up behind their biggest comedy. I can picture Lorre and Moonves saying to each other right now, SHEEN WON'T BEAT US!

Up All Night - 8:30 - NBC - Season 2 Episode 2
Episode Title: Home/Office
Reagan adjusts to being a stay-at-home mom and learns about the quirks of the neighborhood. Meanwhile, Chris and Scott work on launching their business, and Ava runs into her former accompanist, whom she may have mistreated on the path to success.

Grey's Anatomy - 9:00 - ABC/CTV - Season 9 Episode 1
Episode Title: Going, Going, Gone
In the ninth-season opener, the doctors try to deal with the fallout from the plane crash, which includes adjusting to changes and moving on from loss.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Season 9? Are people still watching this?

Person of Interest - 9:00 - CBS/CityTV - Season 2 Episode 1
Episode Title: The Contingency
In the Season 2 opener, Carter and Fusco search for Finch while Reese gets a new number from the Machine.

Thoughts from the Media Room: This ended so well and I can't wait to see where they go now.

The Office - 9:00 - NBC - Season 9 Episode 2
Episode Title: Roy's Wedding
Pam's ex-fiancé, Roy, gets married. Jim and Pam attend the wedding, but Roy's big day causes them to explore possible secrets in their own marriage. Meanwhile, Dwight arrogantly protests Nellie's charity initiative, and Clark woos Erin by enticing her with a fake newscaster job.

Glee - 9:00 - FOX/Global - Season 4 Episode 3
Episode Title: Makeover

The Next - 9:30 - The CW - Season 1 Episode 2
Episode Title: Semi-Finals: Round 1
Six local winners and one fan favorite compete in the first round of the semifinals.

Parks and Recreation - 9:30/8:30 - NBC/CityTV - Season 5 Episode 2
Episode Title: Soda Tax
Leslie decides to wage war on obesity in Pawnee in her first mission as city councilor by passing a city-wide soda tax. Meanwhile, Andy tries to get in shape for his police-entrance exam, and Ben struggles to connect with the interns in his office.

Thoughts from the Media Room: How awesome was it to watch this last week?

Scandal - 10:00 - ABC/CityTV - Season 2 Episode 1
Episode Title: White Hat's Off
In the Season 2 opener, Quinn's true identity is disclosed to the team. Meanwhile, Mellie and Cyrus make a live TV interview awkward for Fitz; and a senator fears a personal matter is about to become public knowledge, so he wants Olivia's assistance.

Thoughts from the Media Room: This show has gotten a LOT of buzz and has developed quite a following.

Elementary - 10:00 - CBS/Global - Season 1 Episode 1
Episode Title: Pilot
Sherlock Holmes investigates crimes in modern-day New York City as a consultant to the NYPD. In the opener, Holmes investigates a home invasion that resulted in murder and is assisted by Joan Watson, a former surgeon, who is hired by Holmes' wealthy father to help keep the eccentric detective sober.

Thoughts from the Media Room: I'm very intrigued by this one, I really like Jonny Lee Miller, but not really a fan of Lucy Lui. I like the modern spin they've put on it. But the always emotionless Lui might kill this for me and many others I'm thinking.

Rock Center - 10:00 - NBC
Sexual assault in the military; a new approach to education that puts focus on character development; a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome inspires David Finch to be a better husband; ``Fifty Shades of Grey'' impacts a small Maine town.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Boardwalk Empire last week and the summer's buzziest book Fifty Shades this week. I think we all see that NBC is trying really hard to be hip.

Flashpoint - 10:00 - CTV - Season 5 Episode 2
Episode Title: No Kind of Life
The Team is called to an office building where Dr. Jason Alston has been taken at gunpoint. As the team clears the building, the gunman gets the drop on Sam, forcing him and Jason into a van and revealing a critically injured child. Sam helps Jason stabilize the child’s condition, and discovers a history between Jason and the gunman – just as armed men close in, gunning for Brendan and trapping Sam and Jason in the crossfire.

Thoughts from the Media Room: Yet another reminder that I haven't watched last weeks episode. I know pvr, I know! Stop looking at me that way.

1 comment:

  1. Loved the “Soda Tax” episode! I thought it was even stronger than the premiere, even though I thought they hit that out of the park. I was watching with a couple coworkers of mine from DISH and we all were just DYING over the “child-size” explanation and the bit at the end with April threatening Ellis. That was my favorite part, personally. While I love watching in a group, I tend to miss some things, but as I can go home after work today and re-watch it with Auto Hop to skip the commercials, it’s OK. I actually prefer it this way, as I can watch it uninterrupted and focus on the small things I missed when I watched it with my friends.
