Disney buys Lucasfilm and Announces More Star Wars Movies!!

So today's really big news, other than Brian Butterfield heading over to those Red Sox is that Disney has bought Lucasfilm, Lucas Arts, Industrial Light and Magic plus Skywalker Ranch and Skywalker Sound. That's a whole lot of stuff for 4.05 BILLION Dollars.

Check the video and watch the announcement of the deal to the world.

Let's start right at the official Star Wars site and see what they've got to say.  Click that classic Logo and see what's up.

Lots of great stuff at StarWars.Com tonight that's for sure.  One interesting thing is a blog post about the future of the Star Wars films.  Something very cool is this picture from a 1978 Time article showing that the Star Wars films were planned to be a 12 movie story!

Check the entire blog post here.

You can check out the video where George Lucas talks the future of Lucas Film and Star Wars.

Next on the Official Star Wars site is the actual write-up and it's a long one on the Disney purchase of Lucasfilm here.

Next up I thought I'd head over to the House of Mouse and check out Disney.com and I'm stunned to see that the news of this story isn't on the main page.  Well, frankly they're too busy trying to see you products, trips and theme park packages for this to get in the way.

Let's move right along then.  I first caught wind of this massive story just after 4:00 when I was packing up getting ready to leave work from the great folks at Deadline.  If anyone sneezes in Hollywood Deadline emails their subscribers, so yes.  I get a LOT of email from Deadline.

UPDATE: BREAKING: ‘Star Wars’ Returns — ‘Episode 7′ Slated For 2015 And More Movies Planned As Disney Buys Lucasfilm

Lots of great stuff in there, updates have been added as this story develops.

Shortly after they also added this story.

So let's head over to one of my favorite tv sites, zap2it and see what they've got to say.

Next up will go to Entertainment Weekly and see what's up over there.  I'm expecting a cover very similar to this one in the next few weeks.

The wonder kids over at NY Mag's Vulture already have "7 Burning Questions" lined up for Episode 7.  Click the logo and check the story.

Next up I head over to the great team over at Joblo.com and see what's up there.  Great image of all the classic Disney/Star Wars toys created.  Nice stuff.

Keeping right along, let's stop off at Comingsoon.net and see what's happening there.

One last place that I want to look tonight and that's the Internet's biggest movie nerd, let's see what Ain't It Cool has to say on the matter.  You can check out there massive write up here.  They also have another piece here that's worth checking about ok, now what for Star Wars.

Lots to digest, I'm sure we'll all be dreaming tonight of that day in 2014 when the Episode 7 trailer finally drops.  Then we'll all spend weeks tearing it apart and complaining that Mickey has ruined our childhood and that we all want Lucas back ;)
